The only food/drinks I carry in my Model 3 with me are standard 16.9 or 20 ounce bottles of water, and I keep them in the center console cup holders. However, the bottles are too small to be held snugly in these cupholders and end up flopping around. Sometimes falling mostly over, one time falling out.

So I had an idea but no way to make it happen on my own. Hopefully someone here is interested in developing it and selling it.

I'm imagining a donut of black (or any color) soft silicone whose outside circumference fits the car's cupholders nicely and whose inside circumference will allow a standard size water bottle to slide inside and be held in place. Not too tight on the inside that the cupholder adaptor would be pulled out when you remove the water bottle to drink.

Maybe something like this? But not really. That then goes inside the built-in cup holders. But, ya know, not an actual donut. But the outside and inside circumferences are the right size, made from a nice soft silicone that would insulate naturally a bit.

    Thoughts?

    Wouldn't that flop around also?

@LUXMAN yeah, that's the idea, but the dimensions would have to be just right in order to work smoothly. And it could definitely look a little better to suit the sleek look of the interior.

If this is the only concern, I think just a 3d-printed hollow cylinder with the proper dimensions will do it.

If you have the exact measurements, I can provide the STL file. It's extremely easy. Just provide me the car holder width (diameter)&height, and bottle width (diameter)

Or, you can wait until I get my Model 3 so I can properly test it ;)

That's unfortunate. My current car has a rubber insert inside the cup holders that gently squeezes the bottom of a cup/bottle and allows for a range of diameters to fit snugly.

I could custom make some inserts like this.

Would love to see some photos of prototypes and how it looks with standard water bottles. Very interested!

I was thinking the same thing... a custom fit insert like that to go into both spots and connect in the middle. Kinda like a rubber lining you find in other cars. That way you can just remove it to clean it too.

Every car I’ve had has a similar rubber lining that can be removed in all the cup holders and door pockets.

The TM3 only seems to have removeable rubber linings in the door pockets. I thought mine was missing a rubber lining in the cup holder...
