In a not so surprising but disappointing report for EV enthusiasts today, we learn that BMW is putting its electric vehicle programs on the “back burner” in order to focus its ‘i’ brand, under which the German automaker has been releasing its electric vehicles, on self-driving cars instead.

The company reportedly will not release a new all-electric vehicle until 2021. more…

What good is a self-driving car that no one buys?

    Thank you kindly.

BMW would have thought long and hard and no matter what they announce in the EV front, it is likely to be bettered by Tesla so they will have to settle for No 2 or 3 and they would not want to end up in that position. Better (less damaging) option would be to shy away - so to speak.

I like BMW cars and their "i" series have innovative technology however they're mis-guided. As test-beds for their CFRP technology and new construction methods they're quite brilliant however they're not "complelling" EVs like the Tesla's.

I fear if they don't double-down on the i-series BMW will feel the repercussions quite hard down the line.
