It appears this silver RC on the test track has a body colored roof. However it also has the glass' coating reflectin continue up onto the silver colored section.
My thought is it's possible that if there is a 'solid' roof option it may be an opaque spandrel glass section to match the body color (or black?), not an actual metal panel section.

    Thoughts?

And remember, the solid section would just be the small section from the top of the windshield to just behind the B pillars - highlighted in the new humbnail below.

Still looks like an all glass roof to me. Hard to tell from these pics as they exhibit some tricky reflections.

That is my point. It is glass, but the color changes right at the extent of the 'roof' section

It's very difficult to say for sure between the angle and the glare. It looks like something funky is going on, but I'm just not sure.

As an aside that second picture makes the car look very aggressive!

@MelindaV there comes a time in life when most of us need eye glasses. Sometimes vanity or denial prevent us from recognizing and accepting that fact. I have worn glasses for more years than I can remember and my eyesight is better than 20/20 when wearing mine. I see nothing in the photo above that suggests there is a solid roof section. Have you given thought to visiting an ophthalmologist?

I was going with aggressive as in "sorry you can't catch me" ;)

Or, "I would rev this engine, but well that's not gonna do much. Just trust me it's quick".

Very intriguing indeed and your enlarged pic in post #7 does help those of us with 'old eyes'... :D
I like your idea yet can't help but find anything else but the all glass for such a small roof section more of a complication, not to mention, as @Ryan rightly reminded us in episod #95 of RTL, that an all glass would have tremendous advantages during the robotized assembly of the car... The mystery remains for a few more weeks... ;)

That might be an outline of the cross beam that connects the B pillars. I'm guessing the glass roof is transparent enough that we are able to view the inside.

agree - it could also be that its pre-production glass that is not 100% match to the rear and windshield glass/tint

I see what you're saying. Like why doesn't the black tint continue towards the front half of the roof? Hopefully we get clearer pics of that RC's rooftop.

Here's a few other pics of the same car via the Tesla Owners Club BE confirming the roof is some kinda glass and certainly not silver metal ... :D

I think a conventional body colored metal roof section between front and rear glass will actually look very weird so not surprised that Tesla may have thought about a compromise to circumvent that.

The Tesla comparative sales sheet says that the all glass roof is "optional". So the presumption is that the solid roof is standard. Why would Tesla go to the added expense of putting in a solid roof WITH the all glass roof as "standard" and then charge extra for a comparatively lower cost all glass roof? I don't care how they do it - spandrel glass, painted glass exterior or interior, or a solid interior section - it is still going to cost Tesla more for the solid roof.

I understand your point Mel but either the sales sheet is incorrect or we are assuming things in the photo above that aren't really there.

Well the sales sheet is "incomplete" so it's safe to say it can also be incorrect. In fact until they announce final specs in July I still see it as anti-sell material...

Strictly speaking, as a reminder, the Model ≡
anti-selling comparative sheet does not say that the all glass roof is optional... I have been rated as optimistic for risking an interpretation it might actually mean the panoramic glass roof is optional, and I agree it is probably a stretch yet a possible explanation... ;)
I continue to take the entire sheet with a grain of salt as it is intended to only concern data on Model ≡ at launch, which could change a few months later (by year end?).

Fact is, we have not seen any RC with a metal roof in the color of the car... Maybe that was the one we saw fully covered... :D
