Anyone know where the charging port is? From the pictures I've seen of the prototypes, it does not appear to be in a similar location as the S.

I also had this same question as well. I would personally like to see it near the front, maybe behind the side Tesla logos.

Same location as the Model S. Heard an engineer say it in one of the videos.

Well then, at least it isn't in a really weird place, although I really would like to see it moved forward. With my new house's garage design, in which 2 cars park front to back and a third is on the side, it would allow for a more central installation point for the charger.

The cord is pretty long and you can get extensions. That or install it in the roof. I have to back into my garage every day to charge as the wall os on the right side (as you're facing in). I thought it would be a pain but with the camera and sensors its no big deal.

That's an option. I was actually considering the wall connectors though. I believe that 25' should be plenty, but what I had planned to do was to put one on either side of the garage. The one on the side where two cars park front to back, I am going to probably mount the unit more central to the wall. This way I could park either in the front or the back and be fine.

I've got a two car garage, ceiling mounting the charge cable enables me to park forwards backwards left and right.

I have to build a new garage for the Tesla and I was considering a ceiling mount.

However, then I thought that unless you install a very clever contraption, there is a potential danger of dropping the charger onto the car.

After waiting 2-3 years for the new car, I could not live with myself or anyone else who scratched the car in this way...

Nothing fancy needed just a bungee cord to keep it at an edge.

Are you putting solarPV as a roof on your new garage? There's another thread on solar with an Australian bent.

I'd love to, but there are trees all around.

Once you have posted a picture of your arrangement and confirmed that after 3 months of use you have had no "accidental drops", I might consider...

Sounds very interesting. Would it be possible for you to post a picture when you get a chance?

Cool place to put it. But I am hoping it stays in the rear corner. I have my Level 2 charger mounted inside at the front of the garage between the doors. This allows me to charge my Leaf car inside (now that I have taken the space back from the wife) or outside if needed. But I have to back the Leaf in as the cord is not long enough to reach the front of the car.:(

Although this is what I initially thought of as a desirable arrangement, I would now hesitate to implement this.

One day you accidentally yank the cable as you shift a broom, rake or ladder in your garage and down comes the charger onto my "Precious".

Maybe I am just too clumsy, but I do not think that this solution works for me.
