Some were wondering how Tesla is going to achieve a range greater than the Bolt EV’s (200+ miles) with the Model 3 (215+ miles), even though the company confirmed the Model 3’s battery pack will have a smaller capacity than the Bolt EV’s 60 kWh pack. Aerodynamic performance was the main suspect and now the Bolt’s lead designer, Stuart Norris, confirms it by calling the Bolt “a disaster for aero” with a drag coefficient of 0.32. more…

The awesome and amazing prowess of committees! If the range of an EV is something you'd prefer were lower, in a large corporation, as if by osmosis, someone on your crack design team can be found who is capable of anonymously yet successfully delivering a means to achieve that key corporate objective, thus making EV's seem less desirable.

Perhaps hearing aids are in order at board meetings. It's not known as the eternal combustion engine.

"At the end, GM decided to focus on cargo space and having a tall liftgate."

And yet, it has less cargo space than a Prius with a 0.24 Cd.

Of course it doesn't stop them from crowing about it:
"Shaped to perform. Defy the wind. Everything flows from the headlamps to the rear wheels. With its purposeful use of lightweight aluminum and smooth, progressive proportions, there’s nothing holding you back." -Bolt website

Chevy really needs to update their Bolt website. It looks pretty silly now that the Model ≡ has been announced.

    Thank you kindly.

The Bolt looks like it's going to be a fine car. I would certainly prefer a Bolt over a Leaf when it becomes available. It just looks like the Model 3 is going to outclass it when it's available. But Tesla needs to stick to the schedule to get that to happen. I think they'll be close to delivering the Model 3 on schedule, but that's based on hope & trust rather than on data and history.

All things being equal the Model 3 will be a much better value than a Bolt for a lot of people. Autopilot, Superchargers, safety, comfort superior range and efficiency just to name a few. Oh hell, everything about the car is better other than GM stuffing the trunk full of money and discounts to get them to move once the 3 arrives.

I'd consider a Bolt if it had enough money in the trunk to pay for it with enough left over for a decent down payment on an M ≡. :)

I might wait for that before convincing my parents to get an electric car
