Of course we know our favorite EV carmaker is not in Motown but, come on!
Listen (~8:00 into the video) to the guy on the right (Anton) going through all the new EVs to be launched over the next 2 years (new Leaf, Jaguar i-Pace, Audi eTron, Mercedes eQ, Volvo...) and intentionally omits to mention Model ≡, neither this year or next..!!!
Then, at the end, you find out he is the 'EV expert' at SeekingAlpha!!! What a joke...

On a side note, the more I see the Chrysler Portal concept minivan, the more horrendous I find its rear end...

This is a review of the electric cars shown at the Detroit Auto Show.
Tesla did not participate. That's why Tesla isn't mentioned.

@garsh... for once, I regretfully beg to differ... As I wrote, I got that... ;)
Yet, to me, this was by no means enough of a reason for Anton to skip the most significant 2017 EV release everybody anticipates, i.e. the one of Model ≡...! Besides, was Jaguar there with the i-Pace? Guess not; if they were, they certainly did not show the car in the video though mentioned it in the enumeration... We all know how most @ SeekingAlpha feel about T≡SLA, so I really do not feel it was as rational as 'they are not there so we do as if they did not exist...' :)

The only mention of the I-Pace was when Roman mentioned it as being a competitor when introducing the Mercedes concept. It wasn't discussed in any sort of depth. They truly were just providing a review of the EV vehicles from the Detroit show.

I did look up some of Anton's SA articles. He is not a TSLA bull. So I'm not defending him. Just defending the limitations of this particular video.

Today, I attended the 2017 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan.

I decided to engage in a small social experiment - I wore my Tesla Model 3 T-shirt which proudly proclaims ‘My Next Car is a Reservation’. I was stopped no less than 4 times by people asking about my shirt and Tesla. “Did you really put $1000 down?”, “I was really hoping to see Tesla here”, “Vaporware”, “Elon is like PT Barnum - great sales pitch but you’ll never see your car”. I received countless sneers from the auto reps on the floor. People pushed me out of the way to get to the Challenger Hellcat. I heard people say "Tesla will be in big trouble" when looking at the BMW I-8.

As I went from automaker to automaker looking for their latest electric car offerings, I noticed a trend - nearly every electric car was relegated to the back of the display and the cars were decked out with as few options as possible. The Nissan Leaf was in the back and had a scant cloth interior, the Volkswagen e-golf had a cloth interior and was minimally equipped. The Prius was way in the back and also had a cloth interior. No leather, no sexy wheels with red brake callipers, no specs listed (including range), no light shows, no sexy models and no lineups. I wondered if anyone who wasn’t looking for EVs would have even known they were there - save for one exception: The Chevy Bolt.

The Bolt was the first car you saw going into the show and last one you saw when exiting. It was situated on a nicely lit rotating display and actually had a GM rep who was talking about it on the floor. It won ‘Car of the Year!” I had the chance to sit in one (it is MUCH smaller than I thought) and the GM rep told me how much he appreciated what Tesla has done to inspire 'serious' automakers to create electric vehicles when he saw my shirt. He kind of snickered when I told him that I had put $1000 deposit down on a model 3 - oh well.

    Great report Dustin.

Sometimes I feel that people like us who crave every bit of news about Tesla, and who hang out on Tesla chat boards don't realize just how uninformed the rest of the population is about Tesla in particular and electric cars in general. It's good to remind everybody here now and then that there is a lot of work left to do to make people aware. Electric cars still aren't mainstream. The Ludicrous Teslas have grabbed the attention of the performance crowd, but the general public is still pretty clueless. That's not going to change until there are 400,000+ Model 3's on the road.

Well done, @Dustin O'Neil , very daring & astute of you! That's a great t-shirt to walk around within unfriendly territory!
Also, fully agree with @garsh about the general public ignorance as well as the key role as advocates for the rEVolution we can and should play! Kudo to you!

Hi Dustin, was it worth visiting the autoshow? I was planning on going, but only for the electric vehicles.

Now would be a good time for Mary Barra to start looking for a good crow recipe. Perhaps the crow l'orange or crow arabiatta with penne pasta? Maybe we could all chip in and send her some ideas.

I love cars so visiting the Auto show was worthwhile from that perspective. If you are hoping to be blown away by EV tech, don't waste your time.
