Tesla is expected to update the Model S any day now.

First picture of new media going up in Australia shows the Model S nose has been updated to the new Tesla "look".

I've bee predicting this since September of 2015 when the Model X final production car was unveiled.

Franz has said on a few occasions he was never happy with the whole nose cone thing but it was done to keep the car looking "normal". Now that Tesla is established they are doing away with it since they don't have radiators and there's no need for any ICE skeuomorphisms.

I like it.

Given all the talk here and elsewhere about people not being happy with the Model 3's snout, I hope Tesla keeps it. I did like the one rendering that extended the creases below the headlights across the front, but I think it makes the car look too ordinary. The frontend that they have on the 3 is unmistakenly Tesla.

And I hope they don't put the X's mustache on the 3 either. Keep it simple.

i personally love the updated model S, and i hope the updated frontend becomes somewhat of a signature look for Tesla just like other auto manufacturers have their own distinguishable frontends. The Model 3's frontend looks unfinished, and the new model S frontend would add a polished look to it IMO.

People claim to be open to new things and don't realize how stuck in their ways they are until something different actually comes along. I like it. The sci-fi loving kid in me wants it as spaceship-like as possible

I love the new look too. I also think it's EXACTLY what the Model 3 nose will look like.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Now that the S has been updated to match the X it just solidified that this is Tesla's new design language. Model 3 will fall in line too once the final production car is revealed next year.

There's design language, and there's making it identical.

The Model 3 follows the new design language by having the grill-less front. But it doesn't require - nor should it add - the mustache.

The S & X have a frunk lid that extends all the way to that mustache. If it's not there, then the cut line would actually look strange. But I see no need for that on the 3. I like the clean look of the prototypes, and I hope they keep it that way.

Maybe it is because I own one but the nose on my car is at least somewhat similar to the Model S ?? I hope it is the same on my Model 3

We used to convert the engines from Covairs for aircraft use. Perfect since they're flat 6es and carbureted, just like most general aviation aircraft engines.

The new S front end is elegant & distinctive. I thought the nosecone looked a bit like a fish with it's mouth open and the plastic looked cheap. I hope the 3 gets the distinctive reveal line & T badge like the new S. The current 3 front looks blank and the T logo is hard to see. I also am happy to see with the new S they planned for the front license plate which is required in most states & countries. I'm not sure where you could mount the front plate on the current 3 design. Design for it, plan the aerodynamics, and don't make it a stuck on afterthought.

I still like the look of a mean grill, like it wants to eat something or it's laughing at you. The squinty front end makes the front end look like it was squished, like a rats nose.

Was on my way to work this morning and passing me on my left I saw a glint of sunlight off the T logo on the front of a brand new dark silver Model S and it was gorgeous. Love the new nose minus the unneeded cone.
