    @GoKingsGo,
    Nice job!
What is your experience in use?
Do you get enough juice from the pad to run applications like Waze while charging?
Are you using the front USB ports or the 12V adapter?

Welcome to the forum, and time to change that “Tesla Owner” status from “No” ;)

    Great first post, thanks!

I do have a few questions and clarifications. It looks like they're $19.99 a piece on Amazon, so technically 2 of them will be $40, so you're saving $60 over the soon to be release Tesla Wireless Pad (still great though!).

More important questions though, how are you holding the Qi Pads in place, are there any issues charging through the mat sitting above the Qi Pad and the case on your phone (assuming you have a case and can you confirm which case), and finally does this cause the mat to sit funny?

    Thanks!!

I am using the USB ports behind the pad. Tomorrow will be the first time using an app like Waze while charging so I will see how that goes and will report back.

Correct. A little savings so I can spend the money on other Tesla related items!

I just used blue painters tape on the back of them to hold them in place. I first made sure they were in the correct position in order to activate the charging. I haven't experienced and issues charging through the mat and I also have a case on my phone.

The case I use is from Caseology:
Galaxy S7 Edge Case, Caseology [Parallax Series] Slim

The mat doesn't sit completely flush on the top but you can't tell by looking at it and it doesn't rock at all when placing the phone on it.

Be interested to know the draw on them when they're not being used to charge a phone. In other words, if you had no Qi enabled phone but the pads were still plugged both with no other USB draw and with a cable connected phone from a different outlet.

I want to install Qi pads but also have cables in that same area all running from the 12v (with a cable and a hub probably - so I can use the front USB for media) with everything always plugged in. I don't want basically four cables to add to the vampire drain since I don't even have a Qi enabled phone yet (good for friends).

Thanks for showing us how it's done!

Thanks! After Tweeting to Tesla Wireless Pad yesterday (after seeing your post), it became clear they’re offering two versions — a single coil “slow charge” at $100 and then a dual coil fast charge at $TBD. The pads you went with seem to offer fast charge capability so in reality you may be spot on with the $100 savings after all!

Now I suspect we can’t get fast charge out of the USB and would need to use the 12V for that, but I don’t think I’ll mind. The real goal is can the phone running Waze and playing music (screen off) at least maintain its charge level while sitting on the pad!

    Thanks again!!

The screen tends to be the largest power draw on a phone. If you're keeping the screen off, then I don't expect you to have any problems.

updated your thread title, assuming your Qi pads are not fighting with each other ;)

@SoFlaModel3 - in regards to the 'quick charge' and iPhone - I wouldn't worry too much about it... I have two different Quickcharge capable Qi charger pads and a QC plug adaptor, and both pads get the same recharge rate for QC as going thru a standard USB outlet. thinking there was an issue with the QC adaptor I picked up another and it was the same. (which confirms, at least at this point, that Apple is limiting the QC ability to their own approved Qi chargers.)

That's a good point, also Apple limits to 7.5W I think on the fast charge anyway.

I ran Waze during my commute this morning and I started at 96% battery. After about 45 minutes it was at 100%. So not only will it hold the charge when running a battery sucking app like Waze it will also increase the charge a bit. I couldn't be happier with this!

Just curios, did you have the phone screen on or were you just listening to the audio from the app? If the screen was on and you added to the charge that would be great.

wow, I hope that's not true. I was having a hard time justifying $100 as it is. If it really is gonna be $100 for a single coil slow charge, then that's dead in the water. Even fast qi charging isn't that fast.

    Thanks @GoKingsGo !!!

They arrived today and work like a charm. No need to spend $100+ here.

It says Tesla right on the box, score! :D
