As the topic title says, do you have a song in mind as you pull away from the showroom (or delivery center)?

I know you won't be listening to the "engine", perhaps sweet silence; but if it's music what are you thinking?

I'm thinking "Electric Feel" by MGMT and then "Autopilot" by Weezer as soon as I hit the highway.

    Yes, I'm a nerd!

First thing that comes to mind... I know some may find it counterintuitive... :D yet I've always loved that song...

Simon and Garfunkel, "the Sounds of Silence." Then next up, Joan Baez "We Shall Overcome."

Well I am coming out of the closet!!!! For a full year I have heard nothing good about my color choice to the point of embarrassment if I even thought about defending it. Well when I take delivery on my 75D with 20" wheels, hopefully sometime next July, I will have Back In Black by AC/DC blaring out of my upgraded sound system!!!

Allow me to add another close second... funnily enough, I forgot it was in the same soundtrack as my first entry (ok, I was 12-13 years old...):

In honor of Chris Cornell, it'd probably all of the Bad Motor Finger album start to finish.

Then again Ty Cobb off of Down on the Up Side, is like a punk song and country song had a black out drunk one night stand. Freaking love this song.

I'm driving from Texas to SoCal in about two weeks and I may try and listen to his entire catalog, but with my girlfriend in the car I may not make it out of Texas before that is nixed.

most of my time in my car is listening to podcasts (a fair amount of them are Tesla related) or audiobooks, so maybe I'll save @Ryan's latest Ride the Lighting for pickup day ;)

Years ago another car group I was involved in had a mixed CD swap (which in hindsight was totally illegal) where you would compile a playlist of 10 songs, burn to a CD and send out to the others you were matched up with then would get CDs from those same people. Was a fun exercise in learning about others and being exposed to some new music you may not otherwise have found.
Since Slacker Radio (TuneIn for the Europeans) lets you create custom playlists, we should start thinking about what songs we would compile and share with M3OC . We could all recreate a playlist from the various users' playlists. (warning - mine may have some 80s pop...)

ETA: upon further looking, I think you have to upgrade from the Tesla provided account to a premium Slacker account to be able to create playlists... looking into the exact limitations of the standard tesla account...

How long ago was that? I'm a bit of techno-buff and am curious where in the cycle of technology this took place. I'm more of a spotify guy myself, which is equally capable of creating and publicly linking to playlists. Though I don't know if anyone wants icelandic alt rock on their playlist.

Makes sense, things were starting to move online, but online music was still a mess, the first iphone barely existed at that point and cloud storage / file sharing wasn't really a common consumer thing yet.

My experience is you can never get to first base with these brainiac chicks in a car! It is either strike out or walk.........a long walk.

Now you're talkin! I like Nehi Orange, R C Cola, A&W root beer, and my favorite, Billy Beer!

I love it! Yes totally illegal, but then so was Napster and everything that came after it.

I have an Apple (see "just works") Music family plan and my wife and I get the whole catalog for $15/month. I cancelled SiriusXM in my car and just use my phone with Bluetooth audio. "Hey Siri" to switch tracks hands free generally works well. I tried Apple CarPlay and will admit that is not a "just works" product as it leaves a lot to be desired.

Anyway, long winded way of saying let's go with Apple Music!

P.S. I'm big on 80s New Wave myself, but I'm also all across the board on music (basically anything but country and oddly enough my wife loves country).

And I was 5-6 years old... Many songs can come up: Stix: Come sail away, ELP: Fanfare for the common man, U2: (pride) in the name of love, Gary Wright: Dream weaver, Steve Winwood: back in the high life, The Police: Every little things she does (M3) is magic. And so on... Oh! and some CSNY songs, Roy Orbison I drove all night. Genesis: follow you follow me, he he he! ;):D

I will most likely have no music at all in the first few rides, to be able to enjoy the car purring along the street. Call me boring.
When I feel confident enough, I will play this, which has a special meaning for my wife and me.
