Fully autonomous Mitsubishi I-MiEV taxis are being tested in Singapore. An engineer will be "behind the wheel" monitoring the car and it will be limited to a small area and a small number of people have been invited to try it, but expecting a full rollout by 2018.
The comments on the article, being it's not on a car - let alone EV car site, make it sound like many people have no idea how close a number of car companies are to offering autonomous cars to the general public.

    I can imagine folks saying:
    • “What if you fall asleep while driving an automobile? How will it know to stop or stay on the road?"
    • “Sometimes I want to let my mind wander while driving a horse. I can't do that in an automobile.”
