One of the largest electric utilities in California, Southern California Edison (SCE), had released a new rebate program for eligible Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Plug In Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) for customers in their area. The rebate is up to $450 for this iteration and the interesting thing is the rebate can be applied to the same car up to three times (as long as the program is still active, and the amounts can change.)

I wrote a short information piece and included some easily to follow steps on my blog: http://pascual.co/ActiveE/2017/05/new-limited-time-clean-fuel-rebate-for-southern-california-edison-customers/

So, if your in SCE territory, why not see if you're eligible.

It's great that SCE recognizes the importance of EVs! Seattle (Puget Sound Energy) just ended a $500 rebate program for charger installs (posted about it here).
Last year I contacted my utility company to see if they offered something similar since they are nearly 100% renewable. After being bounced around to a few different people's email the answer I finally got back was something like: "we encourage customers to use less energy, not more. Adding an electric vehicle certainly adds more".

I guess they want to encourage people to use less of *their* energy.

Perhaps the utility doesn't want to grow with the times and just wants to stick its head in the sand?

SCE definitely looks more like a utility that is lookig toward the future compression to your utility.

Ok, so I just wrote a follow up to this article on my blog as SCE just provided status on our application. (spoiler alert, we were approved, now we wait for our checks.)
