Great article. I've had the argument we burn fossil fuels for power thrown at me before. #1 is that its more efficient. With an ICE you've got wasted energy. You're car isn't using the heat its putting off for anything useful. Same with the sound and the braking. When you hit the gas you're burning fuel and can't reclaim any of that energy. Poof, its gone.

Plus as we put additional demand on the electricity grid they're moving away from fossil fuels as renewables are getting quite cheap to install. Sure its not perfect today but applying the pressure will make it much better over time and despite that it's still much more efficient today and only getting better.

Nobody in his right mind still believes those trolls and 'alternative truths' of the fossil energy and ICE corporations.

The heat is on. It's on the street. There are 480 exajoules of energy delivered to Earth from 93 million miles away every hour and a half, with no delivery charges. If we cannot figure out how to corral that supply, which equals the present annual usage of mankind, and distribute it, what kind of engineers are we raising? A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Sustainability may seem difficult, but consider the alternative. The Grim Reaper does not give do-overs.

I have a neighbor who works on the fusion project over at Lawrence Livermore. There is more than one way to skin a carbon cycle.

One thing I'm betting (whether the answer is largely solar roof panels or not) is that the least carbon-cycle increasing solution is not going to involve lugging around eight introverted cannons with a supply tank of strained, crushed dinosaur juice, shaken, not stirred.

True... but... did you ever consider how many people out there are not 'in their right mind'...? :D

I think Tesla is tackling the ICE vs EV argument exactly the right way by offering EVs that are much better than their ICE competition.

There is nothing better than seeing a family of five comfortably seated in a whisper quiet P100D outrunning a man stretched out flat in a noisy uncomfortable ICE sports car with hundred exhausts. In the time it takes for the ICE man to press his accelerator, the Model S would have reached legal road speed limit. The rest as they say, is history.

Sadly, yes. But that doesn't change my view. Luckily their numbers dwindle fast now.
