This Apple thing won't go away...
I guess there may be something to it and, as I wrote recently, the demand for EV in future years is going to be so big that it may actually be a good thing for the world rather than a concern for T≡SLA!

I don't know why Apple should be anybody's concern.
I still think that Waymo has a huge lead on everyone in this space, including Tesla.
But they seem to be doing something more akin to "pure research". They really need to figure out how they're going to start making this technology available to the public.

You are right about Apple being way behind, and has a lot of catching up to do, but Tesla is in the lead. All of the leaders have adequate sensors and computing power. What they need is data within the next year Tesla will have logged billions of miles of sensor data everyone else will be behind by orders of magnitude. I think that will make all the difference.

He never said Apple will be making a car. They could just be selling the underlying software and technology for an existing manufacturer to integrate into their car. They already do this with the entertainment system.
