Chevy Bolt EV owner claims his new car crashed on its own into his garage without anyone in it

While reminiscent of the recent claims of unintended sudden accelerations in Tesla’s vehicles, especially after a Model X owner crashed into his own garage, we are not talking about the same thing here. Instead, we are talking about a possible acceleration without anyone being in the car – making a pedal misapplication unlikely.

That’s what a new Chevy Bolt EV owner in California claims happened after having parked his car in his garage earlier this week. more…

in other words, he left it in gear and went inside and then claims it was in park... will be interesting to see what the GM engineers say when they arrive. Does GM have their own blackbox?

Does it even have auto-park or the ability to move on it's own?

I guess if you forget to put it in park, it does.

If it was going to fault, why didn't it go forward?

I could imagine if you are used to hearing the engine, it would not be unheard of (ha - no pun intended) to neglect to actually shut the car off when you are getting out.
Driving a stick, I admit to having sat idling in a parking space with my foot on the clutch and been distracted and went to get out of the car without turning the key and having the engine come to a lurching stop.

Not the version being sold to consumers...

The ones for car sharing was rumored to be able to do some level of autonomy.
