    no - it was a production car for a few years (2003-2006) - including a Brabus version with two of their typical 3cyl blocks fused together for a 6cyl.

    ETA: it was my "OMG I want that roadster" before there was a Tesla Roadster ;)
    believe Smart first officially sold in the USA in 2008 (assume Canada may be the same) so any Roadsters in the country were purchased in Europe and imported. Mexico started selling ForTwos maybe a year or so earlier, but still after the Roadster was discontinued.

    Couple of comments...
    As the article states towards the end, at first this decision only concerns US & Canada; it will be interesting to see how long they take to do the same in Europe.
    The Roadster was a very low seller and mainly sold on our side of the water. For me it wasn't as intriguing in real life as the picture would suggest (for one thing very small). Of course, if a bit modernized in its design and fully electric, it may have more appeal... ;)
