Faraday Future now claims that its prototype beats the Tesla Model S P100D’s 2.5 seconds 0 to 60 mph

Last week, Faraday Future released a drag race video showcasing its upcoming electric crossover against a Bentley Bentayga, a Ferrari 488 GTB, and a Tesla Model X P100D with the Ludicrous battery upgrade. The company claimed that its vehicle was faster than all those cars, but if you looked closely in the video, a Tesla Model S was in the background.

Sure enough, the startup now released another video claiming that its prototype is quicker than the Tesla Model S P100D’s 2.5 seconds 0 to 60 mph time. more…

So what if it's faster. I'm not buying an EV for its speed.

The Model S wouldn't be nearly as popular with the general public if it didn't have that supercar-level acceleration. If nothing else, it's a gimmick that helps generate interest and sell the entire model line.

@garsh, you are probably right... I would add that the speed argument is at least as effective when it is shown to be an enabler to accident avoidance, like in that recent video when incredibly fast acelebration saved the T≡SLA from being rammed from the back! :) This spoke to me even more than all these somewhat surreal drag racing comparisons... ;)

No gimmick by any standard. We are talking about true supercar performance in the Model S. Also a real eye opener to the performance yearning crowd that actually there is very little value in race track performance because the majority of buyers in the performance market do not take their cars to the track so for 99% of performance car buyers, if they are ready to accept it, Model S is a better performing car in all aspects of everyday use, than traditional noisy, polluting, crammed-up track cars. For the remaining 1% who just cannot survive without taking to the track or those who just don't want to accept that a silent, comfortable family car is superior to their favorite ICE supercar, well who cares, certainly Tesla will not bother but some recent start-ups like nextev might have an answer but again is it worth it, no IMO.

I guess I would be a little more impressed if they had a factory to build these things in...or the even the money to build the factory to build these things in...which seems to be in question now.

Hi again Michael. Would you be so kind to re-post that video where the Tesla accelerated to avoid a crash ?
    Thanks, RickM

Where does this silly drag race war end? Maybe Tesla could stack another 100kWh battery under a P100D just for bragging rights.

I remember the last time that I took one of my cars to a drag strip...oh wait...I never did that. No plans to change that either.
