Faraday Future reveals the “FF 91”: 1050hp, 378mi EPA range, 200kW charging, self-driving; 2018 production intent

Faraday Future has just finished revealing their first car, the “FF 91”, in a livestreamed demonstration from CES 2017, and boy was the demonstration a doozy.

The FF 91’s specs are incredibly impressive. With a 130kWh battery, it will have 1050 horsepower, which Faraday Future claims is the most of any electric car (but actually falls short of the Rimac Concept_One by 38hp) and 378 miles of EPA range. The 200kW DC charging system purportedly charges the car at a rate of 500 miles of range per hour (and a 15kW AC home charging system for 50% charge in 4.5 hours), and the car will include self-driving capability courtesy of a 3D LIDAR system embedded in the center of the hood.

See more about the specs and presentation, and some photos, below the jump. more…

Lots of cool "stuff" for sure but the question remains, can they bring this car to production? Even if they do, what will the final production car look like? I doubt that everything you see in this presentation will be on the final car. If it is I can't see this car being less than $200,000, but hey maybe they have some magic dust to pull it off. It certainly can't be considered a direct competitor to the Model 3. Maybe not even the Model S depending on what the price ends up being.

Like all things...time will tell. They still have a lot of questions to answer. First and foremost being where is the building they are going to produce these things in? Build a factory, outfit the assembly line, finalize production specs, staff factory, begin actual production...al by 2018? Seems pretty daunting to me. I hope they can pull it off.

One other thing I noticed. This thing is HUGE! I don't know how many people would have a garage big enough for it. Maybe they should call it the FFM1A1 as in tank!

Yeah, I mentioned that on Twitter and Facebook. If people think the Model X is big wait until they see this thing in person. Over 5.2M in length and over 2M wide. Ouch!

Anyhow, all the best to them (they're going to need it) but Tesla is getting all of my hard earned $$

I did not watch the presentation (and from comments I've read, sounds like that was a good decision), but from what I've gathered, it really sounds more of a Towncar style vehicle and not aiming for the general public (unless you have your own driver).
Seems an odd form-factor choice, especially with them pushing the acceleration speed so much. At least when Tesla first started out with their high priced first car, it was for the general public (the part with lots of toy money sitting around). I just don't see that much of a market for what they have designed (outside of private or for-hire car services). The excessive width and length (that would make a Model S look small) will not work in many places.

Anyone else notice that this monstrosity was a 4 seater? No back row that I noticed and a console down the middle of the second row.

    Hmmm.....

I need the drive back to LA from Vegas to digest and give my opinion.

Even though the car is made in the US. People in the comments section during the live-stream kept on spamming "Made in China." Bu then again it's backed by communist money :D. They have a long way to go. LG could develop something better than the lithium ion cells they are making for Faraday.
