Tesla changes the branding of the Model 3 to remove the ‘3 lines’ logo on its website

There’s an interesting story behind the name of the Tesla Model 3. Those who have been following the company for a while might know that it was originally supposed to be called ‘Model E’. Due to a trademark problem with Ford, Tesla changed it to ‘Model 3’ and stylized the ‘3’ with 3 horizontal lines – like the ‘E’ in the ‘Tesla’ logo.

The company has been using this stylized ‘3’ since the introduction of the vehicle in March 2016, but they changed it back to a normal ‘3’ on the branding of the upcoming all-electric sedan on their website this week. more…

Well, seems like those of us who prefer the Model ≡ version are currently outnumbered 3:1... :(
Anyways, another 18' win for MikeBot, courtesy of Twitter! :D

I liked the logo for us fans but its readability is challenging if you don't notice the E from Tesla's logo.

I wouldn't read too much into this. Either way we know what the car is called. If they stick with the "3" at least our site is copacetic :)

Yes, @Brian_North , but how much did that take... unless you thought the car was made by GM :p
I know, I know, Trev... :) It's just that Model ≡ was more... radical? ;)

By the way, here is a link for those who, like me, are not as well-versed as @TrevP :

Mostly thinking of someone like my Mom trying to read the model name off the car. She'd be confused and have no idea. If someone thinks the car looks cool you want them pulling out their phone and googling the model to see whats its about.

FINALLY! A serious issue to discuss on this forum. This will keep us busy until the next reveal. Forget batteries, HUD or option pricing. Let's all rant about the name change.
