It appears that there was an approximately 10% drop in MS/X deliveries from Q1 to Q2. Could this be the model 3 effect hurting sales of the MS/X?

Given the drops in sales for other large luxury sedans recently, I'm surprised that this hasn't happened sooner.

You need to read the whole article. They would have sold more if they could have made more:

“The major factor affecting Tesla’s Q2 deliveries was a severe production shortfall of 100 kWh battery packs, which are made using new technologies on new production lines. The technology challenge grows exponentially with energy density. Until early June, production averaged about 40% below demand. Once this was resolved, June orders and deliveries were strong, ranking as one of the best in Tesla history.”

Good catch John and interesting explanation. It appears Tesla is on the verge of setting the automotive industry on fire! This is happening exponentially fast!
