Tesla officials have been talking about the possibility of opening up their Supercharger network to other automakers for years, but it never resulted in anything. In the meantime, it remains the undeniable leading electric vehicle fast-charging network in the world – both for coverage and for charge rates – and one of Tesla’s main competitive advantages.

But now Tesla CTO JB Straubel says that they are “actively talking to other car makers” about using the network. more…

Tesla should IMO. It should come with a fee, of course.

Word to other car companies: I would be a potential future customer should you be able to tap into Tesla's SCN because that would be your weakest link.

As for access to the Boring tunnels, Hyperloop, SpaceX transportation to Mars, etc. well that's another story.

This is a hard one. I personally think Tesla should keep running their own chargers because they have several years of a lead built up in the network. The moment you let others into that infrastructure you risk allowing them playing the competition game AGAINST Tesla rather than trying to help spread eV adoption WITH Tesla.
