Tesla Model 3 prototype goes on rare outing during solar roof event [Gallery]

We are still digesting the event that Tesla held last night. The solar roof products are undoubtedly stunning, but we are disappointed by the lack of details about pricing and the absence of the “integrated” aspect with the Powerwall 2 and new Tesla charger that didn’t end up being unveiled – more on that later.

But we got a rare look at one of the working Tesla Model 3 prototypes. These outings are always appreciated by reservations holders so we’ve put together a quick gallery of the vehicle. more…

Looks like my friend Jamie got a few good pictures in with Elektrek...

I finally got close to the Model 3 before they fenced it off.

so what was your impression (thinking specifically size) vs your S?
And I assume this was the original proto from March 31st? or could you see anything new/updated?

Drafting blog post... it's smaller than S, but bigger than I was hoping for... I was hoping that the 3 would be closer to my ActiveE (slightly smaller than a 1 series BMW).

Yes I'm curious how the new inverters work to integrate things and if it's possible to feed that DC power from the panels and battery directly into the battery for a watered down supercharger.

I asked about that and received blank looks from the employees I spoke to at the event.

I started another thread for the blog post here.

Blank stares. (like off to the distance and never heard that idea before.)

LOL. Ohhhhh, you mean the L.A. 50 yard stare. You look to the left or right of someone's eye-line for someone better to talk to.

Albeit... politely... I think the employees that I spoke to about these ideas really didn't know anything about it... which is a little disappointing.
