Yet another new Tesla Model 3 release candidate has been spotted yesterday.

Interestingly, the vehicle, which has a glass roof like all other Model 3 release candidate spotted so far, was spotted with a roof rack and a large box on top. more…

Of all the release candidate spy shots, this one has made me feel this is getting real more than any other.

"The Model 3 is expected to only have the glass roof option..."

That doesn't fit the definition of the word "option" that I learned in school. ;)

The idea of putting anything on the roof of this amazing all glass roof (standard, @UncleT , :D) is as foreign to me as seeing a scaffolding plus curtains in from of da Vinci's Mona Lisa in the Louvres Museum...

Maybe a picture can be painted on the bottom of the cargo box a la sistine chapel!

Can someone say out of experience if these roof racks will likely be removable? Would be ugly to drive around with them all the time

    Guten Morgen, @Dash !
I can't imagine it any other way. In addition, roof racks as I trust you know are normally accessories and not delivered standard with the vehicle...
Nochmals einen wunderschönen sonnigen Hamburger Tag! ;)

Crossbars appear to be removable. Not sure about mounting points. $500 option from Tesla. Important side note, this option is only available with the panoramic sun roof...not solid glass or metal roofs. At least not on the Model S.

You probably haven't seen the Mona Lisa in person, scaffolding wouldn't be a bad idea. Nor is a roof rack on a M3 - bike, skis, kayak, box - all things you may want to bring (no tow hitch, anyway)

Leon, you’re funny. I live three hours away from Paris and actually was a resident of the French capital for four years in the early nineties... I have seen the Mona Lisa at least a half a dozen times... and agree seeing it requires almost as much patience as waiting for my Model 3... ;)

BTW, if you imply it would be easier to see from a scaffolding, I beg to differ. The crowd would just be six feet higher... :D

Now, as to the roof rack, to each his own. I was just saying that, IMHO, it would be a shame to obstruct this beautiful view of the sky (and stars at night..) with a roof rack and what it would carry... Hence am of the crowd who would rather have a tow hitch option at some point... :rainbow::)

Agreed, neither is desirable or optimal, but sometimes necessary (for weekend warriors and culture tourists alike) .
Our Volvo XC60 has a nice large panoramic sunroof too - sure the box on top ruins the vistas and whistles over the speed limit, but whatcha gonna do, leave all the creature comforts behind? Volvo Life.jpg
