Calm down @garsh , I smell BS in the tweet.
But, I really, really, really want an 85kWh Model 3!!!
This is not meant as a negative, but man I really don't care where they put the hazard light switch.

An 85 kWh AWD alpha car? Sure, that could have been true... Let's not forget that the alphas had charge ports in the trunk as well, so it was hardly production hardware.
I will say this, though... if, by some magic, the largest production Model 3 battery exceeds the 75 kWh that Elon had previously tweeted was the maximum possible given "current cell/module energy densities" (oh, and BTW, which cell geometry was that again?), then it would certainly explain:
The secrecy surrounding what's displayed on the center screen during charging (as we've seen with the partially/completely covered charging RCs)
The sudden retraction of the Teslarati article that allegedly leaked the Model 3's battery sizes as 60 kWh and 75 kWh (though, to be fair, if I were actively trying to anti-sell the Model 3 and a "leak" understated the maximum battery size, I would probably let it stand...)
Still expecting 60 / 75, though... maybe even 55 on the lower end, despite the retracted leak. Just one more month...
I was assuming he was talking about the Silver RC that's been spotted. Who knows.
I like the idea of having the hazard and glove box buttons over head. I don't know about 85 Kwh, but it sure smells like there's something they don't want leaked before the reveal (which is coming up fast) and there's nothing apparently all that different about the Release Candidates (compared to Alphas) that hints what this could be.
(I would not be surprised if Hazard lights could be activated with a voice command or remotely with the app)
I LOVE the idea that the DIRECTION / ANGLE of air flow out of the vents would be controlled from the UI in the screen... ! That's a neat idea!
It sounds like it'll be a PITA to adjust it while driving.
How often do you move the vents?
Speaking for myself, my seat, mirrors, steering wheel, and vents probably haven't moved since the day I purchased my current car. Note I am the only driver, but even still these movements are frequent in my life. Do you move the vents a lot? I change the A/C fan speed a lot, but that's it.
I believe it was a "reliable inside factory source" (so it must be true) who leaked that the fan speed will be controlled by the CLAPPER! Clap once to increase the speed. Keep clapping til you get it full blast. Dog, I love advanced technology. Match THAT BMW!
I monkey with my vents all the time. Sometimes I want them blowing right on me, other times I don't. I switch between defrost & vents a lot too. Anyhow, I'll deal with it.
Every once in a while, the wife takes my car. I've never owned a car with memory seats/mirrors, but it sure would be useful when switching drivers. I hope Tesla offers that for the 3.
Interesting ... probably the fact that I live in consistently hot and humid Florida so the vents are always pointed at me with temperature set to Low and the only variable is fan speed.
My wife has never driven my car though it does have memory for seats/mirrors.
On the Tesla, I would anticipate memory, but not care if we don't get it given my situation.
Still, I know the goal is to keep things simple but they also can't drop too many features that exist in comparable cars that they are going up against.
PITA? Isnt that a flat round bread? Maybe its a new expression in the US? So the UI is like a shish taouk chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomatoe... which would be... ...simple? Ah, now that I've seen the Tweet in context, I can certainly see how you came to that conclusion. (I also see that you asked him to clarify 85 vs. 75, to no avail.... yet... )
An 85 kWh pack in an AWD Model 3 would probably rival the S100D in range and beat it 0-60, and I'd order it in a heartbeat. For those same reasons, though, it seems unlikely that such a configuration would make it to production... at least if you buy into the reasoning behind the anti-selling campaign...
