This is not a joke... I mean it, I need help to find one or two payphone hoods.
The most plausible solution I could think of was to find one (or two) old payphone hoods (sometimes misleadingly referred to as a booth). Finding such a creature however, is proving to be difficult.

I live in Minnesota. We have this cold white stuff on the ground that's called... SNOW.
...and when you get a lot of it, one uses a snow thrower to move it around.

I've just completed the most difficult part of preparing for one (or two) Tesla High Power Wall Connectors (HPWC?), that being the burying several PVC conduits in a ~20+ inch deep trench out to an 8"x8" post I've mounted along one side of the driveway...
...exactly in line with the area that most of our snow gets thrown to.

I originally had planned on purchasing an enclosure sold by Milbank, part no. CPEV00A0JSW1 (rated NEMA 3R) that they USUALLY sold with their own EVSE. [50 & 5/16" tall, by 17 & 7/16" deep by 12 & 3/8" wide]
    See URL: http://www.milbankworks.com/images/electrical-vehicle-img2.gif
The problem? I have a hard time justifying the $794.67 price for a $500 EVSE.

So, I thought of an alternative... The now obsolete (pay)phone hood/booth.

If I can protect the Tesla EVSE from the worst of the snow thrower's actions AND keep it mostly out of the rain, such a phone hood should be good enough.

    Now comes the hard part...
I can't find any (reasonably priced) phone hoods for sale, either here in MN or in nearby state.

    {Note that I did not plunk down my $1000 deposit until October 6th, so I have quite a while to wait. Solving the find-the-hood issue would be nice to have done before winter comes, but this may not be a necessity.}

Can any of you offer up suggestions as to where to shop and/or alternatives to protect the EVSE?

Note that I have NOT (yet) begun shopping at local antique shops and building material recyclers.

Try looking under "payphone". I typed that in and got a few hits.

You could use an outdoor fire extinguisher box. They come in a variety of sizes, are inexpensive, and are easy to install.

I should not have written my original post in a way that could be implied to be time sensitive.

It looks like I will have at LEAST until mid-2018 to finalize the 8"x8" post I'm working on for the EVSE.
I still would prefer to have one of the payphone hoods of days-gone-by, but in the mean time, I have thought of a few alternatives.
I'll share them here in case there are other people whose EVSE will be mounted in places vulnerable to a snow-thrower's output.

      -----

I have yet to inspect it in person, but my current thinking is to get something like...

Shop at the local "Mills Fleet Farm" for either:

      Plano 56 Qt. Sportsman Tub
      Plano
      Product #: 0000000087079
      $12.99 - $14.99
      https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/plano-56-qt-sportsman-tub/0000000087079?Ntt=tub

      or

      Plano 68 Qt. Sportsman Tub
      Plano
      Product #: 0000000087080
      $19.99 - $24.99
      https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/plano-68-qt-sportsman-tub/0000000087080?Ntt=tub

      Otherwise...
Shop at the local "Tractor Supply" store for:

TuffTubs.com's "Heavy Duty Rectangular Tank", or one of the Oval shaped ones,
then cut off the (then) bottom side for the cord to hang down.
      http://www.tufftubs.com/htdocs/KMR75.htm
      http://www.tufftubs.com/htdocs/plinoval.htm

Lag-bolt the tub to the column, on its (intended) bottom side to the vertical, and cut off the (then) bottom for the cable; not perfect, but cheap(er).

      -----

The above are far from the solution I'd prefer, but cheap and short-term adequate will allow for a future better solution.
And I now also have the TIME to look for a better solution.
