So right after the Model 3 unveil event I fully left my constant news updates for the model 3. I am wonder if I could get a rundown of the big updates from that point on.

I would like to also know specifically about

    1. Production

    2. Features

    3. Pricing

  2. DC Rules

        Welcome to the site!

You’ve received some good replies already and I’ll point out that search is your friend. Lots of good discussion on here that is easily accessed through the search function in the top right.

        For some CliffsNotes...

        1. Production

It started slow. The plan is to be producing 5,000 Model 3’s per week by year end and 10,000 per week by year end of next year.

The production ramp is following an S-curve that essentially starts very slow and ratchets up fairly quickly.

Quarter 3 production figures were just released and considerably lower than the initial expectations with some explanations surrounding issues with early cars and corrections that have been (and potentially will be made) to support volume production.

Last thought here, if you made a reservation — go to your MyTesla page, click “Manage” next to your reservation and then on the Delivery Estimator link.

        2. Features

Features have been bundled to simplify production.

There are 2 battery options - standard (220 miles) and long range (310 miles)

        A premium upgrades package

        Paint colors (Black is standard)

18” standard aero wheels (with removable cover)

        19” sport wheels

        Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)

        Full Self Drive (FSD)

The only additional feature absolutely known is dual motor all wheel drive though smart air suspension and performance versions have been confirmed by Elon Musk on Twitter

        3. Pricing

Base price for base battery 18” wheels and black paint is $35,000

        All other colors are $1,000

        Long range battery is $9,000

        19” sport wheels are $1,500

        Premium Upgrades are $5,000

        EAP is $5,000

        FSD is $3,000

“First Production” cars (in other words the first cars that will ship) have the following a minimum of $49,000 and a potential initial maximum of $59,500.

Long range battery + premium upgrades = $49,000

        + Paint = $50,000

        + 19” Sport Wheels = $51,500

        + EAP = $56,500

        + FSD = $59,500

        FSD requires EAP

EAP and FSD are able to be added after purchase as a software only unlock/update but each cost $1,000 more if added after delivery.

          1. Production
High volume production is expected to start soon. Tesla made only 260 units in Q3 2017. I think they will make less than 5000 units in Q4 2017. On Tesla.com you can see your estimated delivery dates. They give you a 3 month period. The last month is more likely. For example, if it says "Nov 2017 - Jan 2018", then Jan 2018 for RWD is more likely.

          2. Features
Check out the 4 videos here.
The presskit page here has most of the specs.
Also, check out my Model S vs Model 3 comparison here.

          3. Pricing
The Model 3 comes in 5 versions. Tesla is now making the Model 3 80 with the Premium Upgrades Package. They will soon start making the Model 3 80 without the PUP and then the Model 3 55 with and without the PUP. The dual motor AWD versions (55D/80D/P80D) are delayed until mid-2018.
          • Model 3 55: $35,000 (Confirmed) aka Model 3 Standard Range, RWD
          • Model 3 80: $44,000 (Confirmed) aka Model 3 Long Range, RWD
          • Model 3 55D: $39,000 (Estimate) aka Model 3 Standard Range, AWD
          • Model 3 80D: $48,000 (Estimate) aka Model 3 Long Range, AWD
          • Model 3 P80D: $74,000 (Estimate) aka Model 3 Performance
In addition, each of the 5 versions above can have the following optional upgrades:
          • $1,000 (Confirmed) Paint color other than black
          • $5,000 (Confirmed) Premium upgrades package
          • $1,500 (Confirmed) 19" sport wheels
          • $5,000 (Confirmed) Enhanced Autopilot
          • $3,000 (Confirmed) Fully self-driving (Requires Enhanced Autopilot )
Also, the D versions can have this option:
          • $2,000 (Estimate) Smart air suspension

I haven’t seen anything that suggests the next car to be produced is standard battery with premium upgrades. In fact the delivery estimator says first production $49k (LRB + PUP at a minimum) and then standard battery $35k available next. No mention of it being tethered to PUP though.

Hi, @SoFlaModel3. I have now edited my message and changed the order. The FAQ page here has the following information:
They are behind on this timeline but we can still see the sequence and the gaps between each step. I think they will soon start making the non-PUP Model 3 80 because on this list that comes before the $35K version. Then the 55 kWh battery will be available. By this time both PUP and non-PUP is already available. Then there will be a gap for maybe 5 months and they will add the D versions.

I think you're right about that--I take it that's what Elon's tweet meant by "assume the worst" on delivery.

Troy, what are your latest calculations wrt the tax credit timeline based on Elon's latest tweets about production?
