I think it is funny that the Detroit has a section to itself under the Volt. I would have thought that car fanatics would be more over on the Tesla side though considering that Tesla makes performance EV's.

Then again, GM is based in Detroit... Surprised that there isn't a section for Silicon Valley for Tesla

    Very interesting data.
Of course, lotta nerds and tech founders.
But dang, who would have thought the "Conservative" cluster would be comparably sized to the "Renewable Energy" one?

You would be surprised that despite media portrayal, how many conservatives are environmentally concerned. Not all of us drive around in pickup trucks rolling coal. Most of simply believe in common sense measures that will not destroy the economy. That picture also does not differentiate between social, fiscal, and political conservatives.

Had I been measured by the study @John Beans I would be in both of those clusters, and I agree with @HanSolo on his summary of my blend of "conservative"....

Then again, like you @John Beans , I'm in California, so... in other states, I may be considered a liberal! As my signature and blog title states, after driving EVs since 2012, I found myself "Accidentally Environmental".

If I was trying to decide (which I'm not) whether Tesla is a flash-in-the-pan or a growing force in the auto industry, I would be more convinced in the latter once I saw these demographics. Sure, there is a good-sized group of folks motivated by conservation, but they are overshadowed by the other clusters, which are interesting and not really represented in the sound bites characterizing buyers so far. The Chevy Bolt seems closer to that ("affordable conservation auto"), but Tesla seems more like ("geek").

really, Environment on the Tesla graph appears to be the least significant and only second to Auto Industry in having the least overlap. Auto Industry I would attribute to the lack of overlap as those followers are not personally interested in Tesla, but keeping up with the Tesla news. Environment I would have expected more overlap, but on the flip side my friends/acquaintances who are the most environmentally conscious, are the least interested in tech and prefer the most basic and analog type of life.

Excellent article! How in the world have there been only two comments before I got there?

When looking at the side-by-side graphics under 'Audience Visualisation Comparison', what comes to mind for me is the term 'neural network'. As such, I think I'd rather be associated with the 'Tesla Brain' on the left. It seems more interconnected from one group to the next, making it seem more whole, and more holistic overall. That makes me smile.

    Everything is connected. #DIRKGENTLY
