I went to a mall that I had never been to before and BAM, a Tesla store. So I walk in just to look around and maybe buy a hat, which I did. Got to talking with the sales rep and he asked me if I heard of the Model 3. I told him I was a reservation holder and showed him the E-mail confirmation on my phone. After that we both started geeking out about the Model 3 since he is a reservation holder as well, of course. He explained that after driving Tesla's vehicles, he had to get the Model 3.

I asked him what it was like to drive a Tesla or an electric car in general. He, without me even asking, said he would schedule me for a test drive of the Model S. I was shocked! In fact, I am laughing as I type this. He said that I HAD to drive a Tesla just to see how amazing it is. He said that it would hook me in for good on the Model 3 after experiencing a Tesla vehicle in general, just in case I had an doubts. I said: But... I have no doubts.... He then said: Lets just keep that our little secret. Wednesday the 27th is my big day my friends! Tesla test drive!

Might I suggest that you check out ANOTHER EV before you get into the Model S.

Find a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt to test drive.

Then get in the Model S. One can't truly appreciate a Tesla until you compare it with other vehicles, EV or not.

@Red, how was your test drive? I had fun in mine, but was too nervous about crashing a very expensive car to try to have too much fun.

I actually did my test drive for the first time ever last month in Dania Florida. I got car sick from the intense acceleration . I would punch it but the rep would stop me and tell me to start over because I was afraid to floor it. He would tell me to really floor it. It was such a rocket push that I got car sick. I tested the self driving and all. I was blown away by the car in general.

My wife rented a Model S 70D for my birthday weekend.

It was the best 3 days of driving I have ever experienced.

I am/was a big fan of my Subaru WRX STI. The torque on that baby was so much fun but the Tesla makes the STI feel like my current car, a Nissan Cube. (STI to Cube, Single to Married and kids)

Driving the Tesla was like driving a standard transmission with the regen braking and being in neutral when stopped.

I would like to tell you of all the great eye opening things about the Tesla but I am sure you all have heard it.

If the Model 3 is 70% as good as the 70D, I am going to be a very very happy owner.

My wife and kids also loved it.

Now I can have it ALL, married with kids and a kickass car.

I reserved a Model 3 back in May. I was in London for the weekend with my wife and had viewed a few videos about the Model S and we popped along to the Oxford Street showroom to take a look at one. On route my wife couldn't have been more disinterested until we started talking to the guy in the store, she then started asking all the questions about it and I stood back and listened, thinking, she's sounds interested now. She then sat in one and moved around the car checking it out, I asked a load more questions myself before we left. At the coffee shop down he road, she asked me if we had a thousand pound spare, 15 minutes later the reservation was made.
Fast forward to last weekend and we are back in London for a few days, this time booking a test drive in a P90D with ludicrous mode. Our thought process being; put down the type of money we are planning on the M3 (and a few quid more) for the base model S or wait and fully spec up an M3.
We took the car out for an hour and were blown away, any expectations either of us had were multiplied 10 fold, as a Hyper Miler I instantly fell in love with Regen, we won't be getting the Model S but can't wait to get the M3 fully specked.
Fast forward a few days and I hate driving my manual ICE SUV, I can only describe it as if I had climbed out of the Model S into a horse and carriage.

You're the perfect example of what I tell people : you can talk all day about Tesla etc, but a test drive is all it takes to make people stand up and take notice.

My wife asked me after our P90D Ludicrous test drive if Model 3 would have that option and I said "yes" her answer : "I'll pay for that option" :)

You all are making me so jealous- you have to 21 to test drive and I'm only 19! I plan to test drive an S, and if available by then, a 3, on my 21st birthday.
On the other hand... imagine the decades of pleasure you will have driving EVs, @Bobby Garrity , while lots of us here are looking at our Model ≡ being our last, or one before last car... :)

By all means. I look forward to seeing the day when the last gasoline powered car is retired. I will have been proud of myself for being a (by then, relatively) early adopter of the electric revolution.
