    Installed the Matte Black Vinyl from RPM Tesla for the Center Console and Dash. Love it!

    They are sending me another piece for the cup holder part because I kinda screwed it up towards the back (can't see it in the pics for video). RPM Tesla is sending me the piece for FREE, even though I am the one that screwed it up.

    To me, wrapping the center console is a must and I have never been a fan of the wood dash.

    What do you guys think?

    @ghoticov,

    Man, that looks a Phenominal! Great work! It matches the interior trim colors and seats perfectly. Incredible. That’s what SHOULD have come stock in lieu of the wood trim.

    Thanks! Yea, I think its the way it should have come from the factory! Mark from RPM Tesla said they are working on pieces to cover up the glossy black for the window controls as well. I will be buying those next as soon as they are released!

    Yeah, that's the look!

    Did you install it alone and, if so, how was the long piece for the dash to work with?

    It looks like the edges are a little wrinkled (only noticeable with the door open) but the wood veneer kinda liked that way too. Is it just my eyes or is the vinyl a little short?

    Thanks!

    @skygraff,

    I believe the center piece is actually two pieces. It has a seam in the center/middle, which is slightly hidden by the 15” screen. I cannot attest to the measured length of each of the two pieces. It also looks like (according to the application video) edges wraps are the most difficult to complete cleanly.

    Yes, I installed it. This is the first time I have ever installed vinyl on anything... and you can tell in parts (like the ends of the dash). The dash piece comes in 2 pieces and it slightly overlaps in the middle behind the screen. It is barely noticeable. But yes, the ends on the dash are kinda difficult to get perfect but you can only see it when the door opens (even though it still bugs me).

    None of the vinyl is short.... where exactly do you see it being short? It could just be a shadow or glare.

    No doubt, the edges are the most difficult. I am sure that someone who does it for a living could do it MUCH better than I did. :)

    I love the matte look on the center console. So much better than the glossy fingerprint magnet. Thanks for sharing @ghoticov

    You did a great job! I’m sure I’d be calling for more replacement parts than just the cup holders.

    The only reason I asked if they were short is because of those ends. I guess I was thinking the wrinkles might be because there wasn’t enough material to tuck it under like the video of the center console install.

    Glad to know it’s in two pieces and glad it can be done solo.

    Thanks again!

    It's not all that difficult to install honestly.... even with this being the first time I have done this, it still doesn't look terrible. I just know it could be done better by a pro.

    This looks great!!!

    Question for you... how does it feel? Now that’s a subjective question of course, but does it feel “cheap”? Covering the wood trim is an area you won’t ever touch but the center console you will and that’s my only fear really.

    To me it feels no different than the glossy black did but doesn’t leave fingerprints. Now it will lost certainly still leave some prints like if your fingers are greasy or something like that but for everyday use, it seems to be much easier on prints, scratches and especially dust (shows less dust). I really wish Tesla would offer these pieces in matte black from the factory. I wouldn’t be surprise if the dash is black under the wood grain covering because it seems to just be a wrap of some sort too.

    Wanted to just let you know I’m buying this because of your post, looks awesome! Thank you for sharing!
    The gloss black on the console already shows fine scratches and tons of prints. Definitely will get the window area pieces once available too.

    More of a thin glued veneer over a base material than a wrap. Looking up from under the steering column:

    I just bought the brushed titanium center wrap from RPM Tesla. Don't have the car yet but I'm already spending $$ for aftermarket mods! Anyway it just came in today and I really like the look/feel of it. It's going on the car as soon as I take delivery.

    I find myself liking the wood more and more, but definitely want to do something about the gloss black. It's a finger print and fine scratch magnet. Thinking carbon fiber...

    My mistake there, I misspoke a bit... I’ll just be doing the console. I really like the wood! Debated on that brushed titanium that @Mike Land is getting, but went with the matte black. Not as tough a choice as paint color but they all do look really good!

    One of the reasons I went with the brushed titanium look is because I wanted to do the steering wheel to match. Bought both (center console and steering wheel) and I think the wheel will look better, even though it is "fake" metal, it will still give it more of a metal look.
