Personally, I love the front of the Model 3. But I keep seeing stuff on the net speaking negatively of how it looks.

    How about a poll?

IMO the front on the prototype is a work-in-progress and will be updated prior to the final reveal/production to include the mustache emblem like the S/X. The shape is already there, with the crease being the top of the mustache.
Without something there though, the crease looks out of place. IF the now standard branding piece the mustache has become isn't added, I think the crease needs to be repositioned to follow the lines the headlights create and drop down a bit making more of a smile (but again, doubt that is the direction things are going).
Since "unfinished" wasn't one of your voting points, I went with "could use some improvement".

I disagree. They're taking these "prototypes" out on photoshoots. That tells me that the exterior is pretty much final and won't change, especially the front end.
Take a closer look at an S/X. That "mustache" is not an emblem. It is a hole. It's an actual opening between the frunk lid and the front bumper. They put it there because the S/X front end looks kind of funny if all it has is the frunk lid cut line at the front. It would look like a pencil-thin mustache. The 3 has no need for it, because its frunk cut line is set back from the front.

I understand the mustache is a recess - I was using the word emblem more as a description of the overall 'thing' than about a stuck on piece.
You can disagree with my opinion, I'm ok with that. I start out each spring with the opinion the baseball team I follow will be in the playoffs too, and plenty of others disagree with that. Mostly those involved with that outcome it would seem. ;)
I've not seen that any of the photo shots are actually for Tesla's own use, but more them being accommodating to publications.

You missed the option of "I will take whatever it takes to get low drag (long range)."

That said, the looks are growing on me. I started off thinking it was a bit weird.

    Thank you kindly.

I purposely avoided putting that... I wanted to keep it clean and simple... 2 choices to get a better since of what people preferred only based on visual look...
But as for me I would rather loose up to 20 miles to get a better looking M3... And the MS and MX look is awesome to me... I don't like the current look it's too blank and empty... I would take the Tesla Saleen version in a heartbeat as a compromise... But if the current look comes out I would hope to have some after market mod to change it or hope the license plate hides it... I'm also taking it in Black just to help hide that front lol

To be honest that is what I am mostly intrigued about the car/2nd reveal... Bcz it can go both ways...

From a marketing point of view this is a nightmare, the current look is very controversial and you don't want to generate bad publicity for a brand new product, adding to that lots of potential customers are preferring previous look that they already have released on other models, already have experience and feedback from it, and from that same marketing view you wanna have a brand look almost uniform amongst your product line, kind of like Mercedes and BMW or even Apple and Samsung are doing...

On the other ends I do see a perfect logical reason why having that front... That knife edge looking front will help cut the drag at high speed, and that will be helpful because the M3 will be an heavy car (close to the MS) with a smaller battery... The other good point is in normal engineering firm, engineers comes up with a system but the design and marketing has the last word on how the product looks... (the can easily convince a CEO with a poll like the one I had on TMC...) but Tesla is run by engineers... So I have a feeling they may not care much about the marketing... Especially when they where able to generate that many reservations without any promotions what's so ever as they claimed...

So it's very interesting to say the least and can really go either way and I'm excited to see how it turns out... But regardless it's a great car and I'll get what I see at the release...

I'm perfectly happy with the front the way it is. If Tesla decides to alter it a bit and give it the same floating tesla dagger like the Model S and Model X then I'm OK with that too.

For many, letting go of the "grille" anachronism is quite difficult. They've become so accustomed to seeing it on a car that without one it looks strange.

But at the other end of the scale you have Lexus which has gone quite bonkers with their massive "predator" grilles.

I'm perfectly ok with not having a grill but to me it has to look nice... Like let's look at the Saleen Tesla... I know it has a sort of looking grill at the lower part of the bumper but even if it had the exact same lower part as the model 3 it would still look better than the current Model 3 look... Why I said that it's because the model 3 has this knife edge look in the front not as round as the Saleen one but both of them has no grill in the upper part of the bumper...

But you are right most people are not used to such a sudden change but I'm not sure it's only the lack of grill that gets people going about this one...

There are after market removable stick-on grills in the planning stages, so one will have the option of a front end with a faux grill.

Ehhhhh I think it looks much better without the grill. I'm all about practicality though, I don't see the point of fake grills or hood scoops or "gills" or anything like that

I have to say I love the front end! Seems to flow beautifully and adds an extremely sleek look

I would love the car as is and for me I hope they don't change anything on the outside

Let's people know there's something different about this car

Not a big fan of the Model 3 "grill" as it is now. I would like to see more of the floating Tesla dagger as TrevP says.
Or we can go spacey like Lexus :)

Please not like Lexus! Don't mind the floating dagger but not a Lexus

Lexus has taken grilles to an extreme... I like what they did with the Model S (the floating dagger) and think it would look great on Model 3. We'll see how it goes.

I think the final product might look similar to this: According to his comments on tweeter, there are some on going tweaks on the front...

If you have the unedited photo, could you post that too? I'd like to see a side-by-side...

Also, if you photoshopped this yourself, excellent work!
