With yesterday message from Tesla to discover model 3 in France starting today, I wanted to have an updated estimate of the price for it.
Here is the guestimates and detailed calculation below
RWD mid range 50 010 – 50 819 €
AWD long range 58 631 – 59 371 €
Model 3 Performance 68 030 – 69 966 €
Warning: that is a pure “mathematical model” looking at how the model S and model X price translates from US$ to Euros. It does not take into account competitive pricing (like Audi A4, Mercedes Class C, BMW 3 Series, Lexus, …) and how that is uniquely positioned on the French market.
It is based on the “conversion factor” to translate US$ to Euros price. Funny enough, it looks pretty consistent for both model S and Model X.
Here it is (price extracted from Tesla website for USA and France from November 14, 2018)
Model S FR US SFactor
75D 84 800 78 000 1,09
100D 106 200 96 000 1,11
P100D 143 500 135 000 1,06
Model X FR US XFactor
75D 92 800 84 000 1,10
100D 110 900 99 000 1,12
P100D 153 050 140 000 1,09
So applying these 2 factors (S and X) gives a range of prices for Model 3. I know there is a first limitation of the model right there (assuming a factor can be applied) knowing that there are some unique fixed costs for France registration and some variable currency/tax cost.
Anyway, here are the ranges it gives (All prices in blue are guestimated applying S or X factor). if you want to play with the model, Spreadsheet attached.
Model 3 FR US SFactor
RWD mid range 50 010 46 000
AWD long range 58 631 53 000
Performance 68 030 64 000
Model 3 FR US XFactor
RWD mid range 50 819 46 000
AWD long range 59 371 53 000
Performance 69 966 64 000
Finally, if I am not mistaken, prices of options (at least color and EAP) are identical in the US between model S, X and 3 (All price in green are just applying the model S and X option price ‘asis’)
Couleur
noir FR US
gris 1600 1500
bleu 1600 1500
Blanc 2100 2000
Rouge 2600 2500
EAP FR US

Has anyone looked at the ‘ICE’ competitive pricing in the US and France and compared the equivalent model for Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, … ?
