posting this with @TrevP's permission....

Model3db.com has been designed for Model 3 owners to document their cars, the accessories, modifications, alterations (are those different?), experiences, how-tos and et cetera related to their Model 3.
Others will be able to search for others based on any of the basic car stats (color, wheels, motor, battery, etc) as well as specific types of mods. So for instance, if you were wanting to see a pix of a Midnight Silver Metallic with 19" wheels and tint, a search function will be able to filter for those cars with that configuration.

Currently looking for some people to sign up and try out the site before it gets released for all to login to. Still working out some style related things, but the initial features (have future features already planned) are set and ready to see how it handles actual traffic and find areas that need to change.

If you would like to try it out, go over to Model3db.com and enter your contact info. Invitations to those interested will be sent out in small batches manually, so at this time is not automatic but will be after a little testing with actual people :)

This page also has a little preview of what the site and its features will look like.

Seems like a great idea. Will there be some way to message users to ask about mods etc? Some kind of nice intro and profile page? Or a way to link to M3OC profile?

Messaging others is in the 'future' list of things.
For now, you would be able to comment on other's posts (much like a blog post), but not directly message someone or comment specifically on a listed mod.

OK, my profile is filled out:
https://model3db.com/user/jwardell/

My comment so far...
Site is a little slow to respond.
~900k limit for profile photos is a little tough (obviously scale down after upload), would love it would also allow you to select an image from gallery.
Suggest adding tires, and maybe multiple entries for wheels and tires for those of us in the snow belt.

Really like where this is going!

Couple of minor issues / thoughts setting up my profile:

1. Website title seems to be blank everywhere. Every page is titled something like, "Page Name | ", where there is usually the name of the website after the "|". Also, my registration email had a subject of "Welcome to !" How mysterious and intriguing. :)

2. When entering mods, the "cost" field has "$" as both a placeholder/watermark and default value, so when you save your mods, the cost for each appears as "$" on your profile unless you clear it out.

3. Banner image for the website reads, "a place for Model 3 owners to documents their cars"

4. Agree with JWardell on the 976 KB picture-size limit, especially on cover photos, which need to be fairly high-resolution to look crisp at full-screen width. Some kind of automatic downsizing in the upload handler (similar to what Trev implemented here) would take the onus of resizing photos off of the user, who is most likely just trying to upload a 4 -8 MB picture that they took on their phone using the default resolution.

5. Idea: add a "Car Name" profile field to let people feature their car's name on their profile page. As evidenced by the popularity of the "Name Your Model 3" thread here, some people really get into the naming thing. :)

6. Idea: add an "Odometer" field (possibly with "as of" date too*) to let other members know how many miles you've logged on your Model 3. Not only will this provide helpful context for members' mods and experiences, the field could be made searchable to help members with similar mileage find each other. Sure, right now, everyone is applying PPF/ceramic and doing chrome-deletes on their brand new Model 3s, but as the fleet ages and accumulates mileage, mods (and repairs) will evolve accordingly.

* If you want to be super-fancy, you could offer the option of members providing a Tesla API token, which would allow Model3db to automatically update their odometer every night. ;)

7. Thought/question: all Model 3s need to charge somehow. Is a member's charging setup (e.g. NEMA 14-50 outlet with Mobile Connector, Standard Wall Connector, Signature Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home, etc.) relevant for the purposes of the website? Or is the focus just on the car itself?

I'll keep playing around with it... especially as I finally get around to installing all the stuff I ordered months ago. :)
