Heading up to the Edinburgh store for my first test drive on Monday! Extremely excited

Will be about a 2 hour drive so hopefully it won't be just a few minutes but will probably end up taking my camera equipment to get some video and pictures

Anyone else been?

I've not been to Edinburgh, but a friend and I went to the Birmingham showroom just after Christmas. We both had a test drive in a Model S P85. Because the showroom is right in the city centre the Tesla guy drove us out towards Birmingham Airport, demonstrating the cruise control on the way. We then both had a test drive, probably about 20-25 minutes each.

The guy was very knowledgable, and we had lots of question time with him once we got back to the showroom. I almost bought a Tesla hat, but couldn't bring myself to spend UK£20 on a cap I didn't need!

Depending on how the test drive goes and I'm sure it'll be awesome I may put down a reservation for a 3

The other half may murder me in Edinburgh but I'm sure I'll live long enough for delivery

Oh and know you've mentioned I can buy merchandise I'll have too haha

I do love collecting

I really hope they have this kind of thing in the store I'm visiting

Would love to really get up close to the tech and see what other manufacturers won't show so freely

love the caps too

My first test drive Tesla Model S 85 was long time ago in Poole Dorset. The road we driven wasn't good for test drive I think, but still impressive to dream now about this car at all the time and can't stop talking how too buy this car. Like for many people like me too expensive and hoping to buy this car in about 3-5 years is not so great.

well lets just hope that the options and such are scaled down for the 3 and i can put a few options on like AWD and a battery upgrade.

I think the roads i will be taken on will be able to show off the autopilot

Check out our shop, we have a few caps for sale that are cheaper than Tesla's

I'll be adding some low profile caps too once I finish the artwork.

Got bit by the Tesla bug a couple of months ago when I happened on a story about the Model 3. Tesla had always been something to dream about but as a teacher...was well out of my financial reach. Watched the reveal the day after on YouTube. Got excited and scheduled a test drive. Drove a P90D with a very knowledgeable Tesla employee. Got to play with all the tech. Blown a way by the autopilot. When we got to the straight stretch and she had me come to a stop and then said "put your head on the headrest and put your foot to the floor" I nearly sh** myself. Literally took my breath away.

Put a deposit down for a 3 the next day.

Enjoy your ride. (I know you will!)

for those wanting a good review of a Tesla test drive, check out the latest "The Tesla Show" (show #8-Involuntary Chuckle) podcast where the two hosts compare their experiences test driving the Model X. My biggest takeaway from their comments was how encouraging the Tesla Co-Pilots (as apparently Tesla calls their test drive staff) were to push the vehicles abilities.

No idea of the iTunes link works from the UK, so if not my apologies ;)

Ive had a look and love them! However being in the UK is a bit difficult normally for shopping! Will definitely pick up some t shirts from the store too

Cheers Dan, I honestly can't wait. Went out today and got a new go pro battery and grip for the test drive and store. Doesn't seem to be much hype around instagram and such so will be putting some images and video together to big them up

I was amazed with the service, they haven't asked my age or back ground and called today and also emailed to confirm my test drive. So refreshing!

All I've done for days is read and watch reviews

thanks for that, I watched a video recently and the 'co-pilot' said something along the lines of the harder you push it to the floor the quicker it is. Its going to be strange not having to feed the power in like my current car and just being able to go 100% :)

I was amazed how knowledgable the staff member was, normally i know more about the car when entering a dealer and it seems i may not this time ;)

Does seem that is a testing rig for some kind of sensing hardware. Looks like the panel at the very tip is body coloured plastic.

Fingers crossed we get all these goodies on the 3

When we had our test drive after Christmas we were told the minimum age was 25. My friend's 19 year old son was with us, and was told he couldn't drive. He has since reserved a Model 3, so hopefully come the time, they'll let him drive that one :)

WOW! I did my first test drive yesterday of a Model S P90D at the Toronto Yorkville store, thanks to all of the staff who were great. I was already totally sold by everything i have read about Tesla and the Model 3 since I made my reservation, but experiencing what the S can do makes this whole experience real, or perhaps I should say unreal. I have never used a piece of technology that felt so natural and right from the first touch. The acceleration and cornering are so smooth and effortless I realize now I can't explain it, you just have to try one. I understand why people say they won't go back to ICE cars just because of the feel, no shudder from gear changes or lurching around a tight curve. The silence and the clarity of the view around you are striking. The only thing that didn't feel natural was autopilot. I wanted to keep driving myself, partly because it is such a pleasure and partly because taking your hands off the wheel on the 401 in heavy traffic is pretty unnerving the first time you actually do it. It made me nervous but I can totally see using it on a long stretch of highway.

The best part of course was the standing start, hit 140 km before I even noticed. My son has not stopped smiling, he loves roller coasters and the sensation is very similar. My wife who does not like roller coasters was thrown for a loop. However she now understands why I am so obsessive about this. She started talking about the Model X, loves the doors, asking a lot of questions and saying well we could afford this one if we stretched. I am still planning to wait for my Model 3 but oh am I tempted to blow the budget and go buy an S.

Ah man you're really getting me excited :)

To be honest what I've read and watched about Tesla I'm 99.9% ill be reserving after driving it tomorrow

I am a proper petrol head and really hope it proves to me that the EV world is for me (I'm sure it will)

I do love the S but really right now would be out of my league but thats not to say i can't befriend an owner over here and get some regular time in them

Adey I think you will love it. My only ICE car with real power was a mustang that was my first car 30 yrs ago. It was fast and I loved the look at the time. This was a totally different experience. No noise, no shuddering, no hesitation just smooth instant acceleration.

I am now officially informed that the S is over the budget. Well I can just have fun continuing to wait. Cheers
