Looking at supercharge.info , you north-east coasters are gettings some major supercharger love.
Population density is higher so more customers. They are just filling up vast empty spaces or few exits right now. Nothing in urban centers yet. I am happy that they are giving attention to east coast as well.
The topic sure makes a lot of sense. We think any drive over two hours is a long drive up here in the crowded northeast and the lack of supercharger locations is disconcerting. We don't take kindly to going out of our way!
But it also shows a changing of thought. Not all parts of the country do people live in nice houses with big driveways and garages. Most folks live in apartment buildings around here and park their cars on the street. They simply can't charge at home. Tesla is finally starting to realize that there needs to be several superchargers in semi-urban areas so these folks can go charge up once a week just like the do with a gas station.
It looks like they are already concentrated here on this map, but the feeling is that they are not. If the map was based on drive time during traffic hours (that is pretty much every hour of every day around here), they would be very far apart.
I agree 100%. The move to sustainable transport doesn't happen if it's predicated on having a private garage with charging access. This has to be easy for the masses otherwise they'll continue to get ICE cars with gas stations on every corner.
I also have to agree here. But I think there is nothing easier than once there is a fair amount of vehicles on the road so that governments actually realize it is happening to bring electric power to whereever you want to. What have been parking meters in the past could be a charging point in the future in cities. It doesn't need to charge fast as long as there are many available. On the countryside there is no problem.
