Earlier this month, we reported on the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the DMV holding hearings to decide whether or not to allow Tesla to get a second dealership license in order to operate another store in the state without having to go through a third-party franchise dealerships.

Now we learn that the DMC ruled against Tesla obtaining a second dealership license last week, which results in the automaker’s latest store in Charlotte having to operate as a ‘gallery’. more…

Hilarious they claim that by offering Teslas through independent dealers it would "operate in a manner consistent with the public interest." Yeah right.

Good old American crony capitalism at its finest. politicians in the pockets of special interest lobbies...in this case the dealers.

Sickening

The politicians will regret this decision eventually. They'll begin to see all the tax money they will have lost through sales in their own state. Then the auto-dealer lobbyists won't hold as much sway.

I can't believe these politicians keep saying its in the public interest or helps keep pricing competitive. It's such a obvious lie that they think if they keep repeating it that people will believe them.

What they don't like to admit is that customers universally dislike the dealership experience. It's such a toxic process.

well surely the person who can offer you the best price is the manufacturer direct. A third party is going to want a slice of profit and isn't the customer who normally foots the bill

Very strange they would be blocking something that to me is clearly in the customers best interest
