I am predicting the standard things like bio hazard filter system, batteries that have ranges from 225 to 280, but also a lack of side mirrors, I think they will push hard to make this happen to increase some efficiency as well as looking different than other vehicles, and being safer. Air suspension I am not so sure will be an option. A few new color choices, a few new rim choices. It will be interesting to see how more efficient they can make the production line because at events I go to people want the car, even when I have pics of Bolt next to the 3, just judging by the looks. The will hit 700,000 by the time production starts at the least. Look forward to hearing more about people's predictions.....

I wonder, however, to get bigger range from Bolt, how much we will have to pay? I am looking at daily commuter and probably won't bother to much with autopilot and superchargers.

Agree with MIke, looking for 240-250 minimum based on Elon's comments on maximum spacing of Super Chargers (shoot for 240 or more).

The marketing magic numbers are 250 miles, 300 and 400 miles. With a .21 CD it might get 4.2 to 4.5 miles/kWhr so it might be possible if Tesla went with 55-60kWhr battery and 70-75kWhr battery to go 250 miles and 300 miles. Not sure you would need 100kWhr but it might be able to go 420-450 miles!

400 Miles is game over for gasoline, especially if you can charge an hour with you 400kWhr super supercharger and go another 400 miles.

I also think there is a fair argument for keeping firmly down to earth without getting carried away. I know sometimes we take it for granted EM's ability to deliver well above the rest but this is cutting edge tech we are talking about and the engineering challenge and scale should never be under estimated. Remember that a 35k Premium EV with 215 real world range is still a fantastic car to be waiting for. Everything above that will be icing on the cake.

I've learned over time to temper expectations and not convince myself too much that my wishes are fact.

I try and follow Tesla's past history and behaviours and apply it to Model 3. My only hope however given their target market is that the options pricing does indeed come inline with the cars pricing and not follow Model S's premium pricing tactic.

amen to that - but I'm not going to let my imagination be limited by unfounded limitations that Tesla will somehow artificially prevent the Model 3 from outdoing the Model S. I just can't see Tesla doing that.
Much more likely that they will allow the Model 3 to be the best it can be and elevate the Model S to exceed it.
Too many folks seem to be preaching that Tesla are about to start working like an outdated motor manufacturer :)

I agree with @EV4Life

I simply don't see the M3 outperforming (0-60 times, features and mileage) the Model S. The Model S is their flagship car and at that price point Tesla needs to have certain features such as luxury seats and bigger battery sizes than what the Model 3 will have. Whoever says that the range will be over 300 might be a little deluded (no offense).

Given that there is no 100kw battery, it's safe to assume that the max is less than or equal to 300 miles.

Just my two cents.

  • Model X 90D range: 257 miles (0.24 CₒD)
  • Model S 90D range: 294 miles (0.24 CₒD)
I expect a lighter, more aerodynamic (less frontal area and possibly a 0.20 CₒD?) Model 3 90D to have a range around 350 miles.

Oh of course! But do we really expect a 90D battery though? Certainly in the future but not at launch I think. Place in the idea of an affordable car. They will use the least amount of resources to make sure the cost to make the car isn't that high.

Plus I don't think the gap/disparity with the higher battery vs smaller packs will be that great. At most the car will go for double the price for the testers battery pack.

I think that we can be fairly certain that the max battery will be over 300 miles. The announcement that there will not be a 100 KWH option is managing expectations before the reveal. There is also a popular expectation that a 300 mile plus option will be available. It would only make sense to manage the range expectation at the same time the capacity expectation.

Silence can speak very clearly. There will be a HUD and there will be an available range of at least 300 miles.
