    We have one firm figure - $35,000 base for the US (pre-incentive )

    Taxation , import ,duty costs will all factor into the prices in Europe, Asia.

    How are you calculating your potential base price for pounds, euros etc where you live?

    I've priced a comparable , a bmw i3 is advertised as $42,000 base US and starts from
    €36,300 (*pricing includes incentives) in Ireland.

    [ i've not scrutinized it too much - i'm sure the bmw might have a higher base spec stateside , but It gives me some quiet confidence about the base price in Ireland.

    How are you rationalizing yours?

    [apologies to us based forum members - one bit of speculation you have no need to participate in :) ]

    I don't think you can do the same for a Tesla, which is american brand and manufactured outside of EU.
    I think M3 will be a bit more than just converting USD to EUR...

    Don't use any pricing metrics other than what Tesla uses for the Model S in your country. Go to the Tesla website, chose your country and look at the Model S base price in your local currency. Compare it to the USD base price then use that factor to figure out the base price for the Model 3 at $35K USD.

    Just remember, not all countries will be a percentage of the vehicles US cost. A few weeks ago I'd seen an Australian post they expected the Model 3 to be $38,000AUD. sounded really low to me (since the straight cash conversion gets you to $46k) so I looked up all the various import and registration fees for NSW (because Australia breaks it down per state/territory) . Ended up there were some fees that only kicked in on the value above a certain value, others were calculated on the total and some were a flat fee and some were incremental after other fees were added on. In the end I got $57k before any delivery/shipping fees by Tesla.
    You should be able to look up import tariffs to get an idea for the specific country and do something similar.

    For us on this side of the pond, this remains a big unknown, mainly because of the uncertainty with regards to forex medium term. All other elements you mention (VAT, import duties, etc... ) are pretty clear and a comparison based on Model S can be done as Trev suggests can be done... but exchange rate can't be guessed one to two years in advance...
    So.... I keep my fingers crossed :rainbow::rainbow:;)

    Looking at a model S to model S comparison , there's a 17% increase over us base, placing the model 3 at slightly north of 40,000 euro.

    The i3 is arguably the closest competitor and if the model 3 is for the masses , is it not an anchor price?

    I would absolutely love a base €40k if VAT included!!! That would leave me between €5-12k for options (again, VAT included), depending on whether or not I can get the €6k French incentives! Almost too good to be true... o_O:cool::rainbow:

    Michael , I have to be positive :) . Ireland has double taxation on cars . I'll definitely be paying more than you.

    Interesting comparison here between france and ireland with the model S :
    http://www.irishevowners.ie/we-can-now-buy-teslas-but-how-much-is-the-irish-premium/

    This post was November 2016 and the OTR price is higher now : 91, 232 in Ireland & 80,100 in france - 8,760 more for you,
    9,706 more for me so FOREX will be a big factor - hopefully the orange one will help us both out.

    @teslamcteslaface , thank, this is very interesting & encouraging... yeah, I think our fate is clearly impacted by forex... yet hope this will be at least as much the result of favorable election outcomes in France this Spring and in Germany in the fall than because of the 'orange' one...
    Anything as of $1.12-15/€ would be helpful!! :rainbow:

    Still waiting to hear if we can get any meaningful incentives here in Finland, and then for a final price!

    Panda, I live in Canberra and am also assuming about $55k.
    An excellent analysis, Melinda. I got a similar result. I applied the ratio of the Tesla $US and $A base price (exclusive of taxes) for the Model S 75 applied to the base price of the Model 3 which gives an Australian base price of $A55.9k. I expect (maybe "hope" would be a better word) :rolleyes: the actual price will be a little lower than this (lower margin than for the Model S) given there are essentially no tariffs and the exchange rate adjusted price is about $10,000 lower. All Australian cars are now imported and car importers often maintain Australian dollar price points even against substantial changes in the relevant exchange rates, adjusting their margins accordingly. Tesla will no doubt establish the price point for the Model 3 based on where they want it to sit relative to the rest of the market and may not result in the relative margin implied by Model S pricing. Australian take-up of EVs is very LOW compared to most comparable countries (despite the highest household take-up of photo voltaic systems - around 16.7%). If positioned well, Model 3 could see that situation change very rapidly.
    Australia has a Federal luxury car tax rate of 33% that impacts the Model S and the Model X quite savagely. For EVs the threshold is currently $75k so even a heavily optioned Model 3 should escape all or most of the luxury tax.
    EV manufacturers have been largely unsuccessful in lobbying the Federal government for EV incentives.
    Except for the ACT where EVs are exempt, States levy motor vehicle stamp duties - the rates vary by State and the values of the vehicle.

    @Panda & @Fun_for_the_grandkids

    here's how I landed at $57,000AUD
    $35kUSD -> $46,249AUD (actually now up to $46,557AUD)
    $46,249 + 10% Duty = $50,873.90
    $50,873.90 + 10% GST = $55,961.29
    $55,961.29 + $1,231 registration/duty stamp (NSW) = $57,192
    plus shipping/delivery of $ ??
