Has anyone noticed that this car has Mode S's like door handles ?!
Yes, but in an effort to simplify the car self-presenting door handles were dropped.
It's speculated that the matte black prototype was just an earlier one, before they settled on the shape of the door handle. While those door handles look like the ones on the Model S, they weren't self-presenting. They worked the same way as on the other Model 3s. You press on the back half to make the front half pop out, then pull on the front half.
I’m finding the handles on that first red alpha way more interesting in that video, actually.
That's a Model X.
Oh. Indeed it is. Zoomed too fast, and i was too lazy to scrub back.
Via Twitter or something? I was disappointed to see that the paint options only had a few (and would be an additional $1,000), and it didn't seem like Matte Black was on there, which is the one I was completely set on.
It's not listed in the documentation Tesla released so either it was scrapped or it'll be coming at a later date. Chances are Tesla doesn't want the education issue as a lot would buy it not realizing there is maintenance to keep it matte. They'd be coming back to Tesla upset once they've messed the paint job up.
Damn, that's upsetting to hear. Was gung-ho on that one especially after hearing Elon say it would be an option last year... was it ever confirmed what the 'special thing' would be for reservation holders about their car 'standing out' from the others?
It's definitely not available day 1. Who knows... maybe with performance ... maybe never.
It was never an option (just like the hyper silver, and whatever they call that red were never options). It was a possibility given the attention it received at the reveal. I suspect that Tesla did the same research as happened here, and decided it was a maintenance nightmare, and that was the end of it. Thank you kindly
None of the 30 models delivered had any matte paint colors
