About a year ago, Forbes printed a piece that says Sheetz was in talks with Tesla about installing charging stations. I didn't hear anything about it for a long time, but lately people on Facebook have been tagging me in pictures/posts saying "hey look at these things installed at Sheetz!" (They know I'm an electric car owner and Tesla fan.) Also, here's a recent article about it: http://triblive.com/local/westmoreland/12678140-74/electric-car-chargers-popping-up-in-region

I doubt everyone here has heard of Sheetz. It's a PA-based gas station chain that's also in MD, WV, VA and other places. What makes them different from other gas station chains is that their stores have touchscreen food-ordering systems for customers to get sandwiches and other similar foods. Several of their station have a seating area to sit there and eat your food as well. The idea of Sheetz installing Tesla stations is just an obvious match -- they have the stations with resources to have people sit around and eat food for 20 minutes, so might as well have your car charging at the same time!

I'm a big fan of Sheetz in general -- friendly staff, very clean facilities -- and this is just a brilliant move on their part. It seems they see the future, and they want to remain in business when ICE cars don't exist. Great moves here by Tesla and Sheetz!

      Oh, we know.
      June 2016 ;)

Two of the Sheetz north of Pittsburgh are getting superchargers installed right now, even though a supercharger station already exists in Cranberry.

This blog is pretty good for tracking these things:
      http://teslapittsburgh.blogspot.com/

Looks like the Franklin Park Sheetz superchargers are finally getting hooked up by Penn Power.

I always thought there was an obvious gap between the Hagerstown supercharger and I-79. The Sheetz charger in LaVale, MD makes so much sense!

*I attempted to correct my typo in the original post but the system tells me it's a possible spam post. :(

Yep, know them too - have lots of stations around Akron, OH, where my wife is from and got a full tank in Belington, WV, last summer before driving down to NC! :)

This is good news. There are plenty of Sheetz along the interstates in North Carolina. More Superchargers are being built but Sheetz is a good alternative.

The Sheetz locations are Superchargers, not a separate thing.

Now if only Sheetz would expand to more parts of the country.

As best I can tell the planned Superchargers in NC (according to Tesla's map) are not Sheetz locations. Even if the Sheetz become lower charge rate designation chargers (ha) it is a good thing. Either way it's a win for the EV infrastructure.

The two new Sheetz supercharger locations near me do not appear on Tesla's map, strangely enough.

Then that is even better news.

I was just driving through Irwin PA on route 30. My wife nonchalantly says "look at all the chargers". I thought she was trying to make a joke as we were passing a Sheetz. But sure enough, when I looked over, there were about eight supercharging stations near the front of the lot!

It appeared to be fully installed. Why isn't Tesla listing these Sheetz supercharging locations on their map?

according to supercharge.info looks like it's not yet up and running. There have been some around here that did not show as "future" on Tesla's map, then appeared after they were open for use.

Tesla has announced Irwin as a future location for a while, but I *think* that might be different from the Sheetz location.

Remember that the future locations on the Tesla site place the chargers in the center of the town or city, not at the exact location.

Sorry, let me be more specific. Tesla's supercharger map calls for a station in North Huntingdon PA, which is just west of Irwin. This Sheetz is located east of Irwin, but has an Irwin address. That's why I don't believe it's the future location mentioned on Tesla's map.

May be a long shot, yet could it be that 'future' locations on T≡SLA map only include - at this point - those new SCs entirely funded by Palo Alto, as opposed to those installed at Sheetz locations, paid by Sheets?

Of course you would expect both to appear ultimately on T≡SLA maps in cars and on their website...

Anyways, dunno, crazy idea perhaps... ;)
