I've scheduled a "24-hour test drive" of a Model X. It's going to be a surprise for the kids. They're both really big fans of Elon Musk - so much so that they used most of their spending money to buy Tesla stock (at $199) instead of video games.

I've done (non-overnight) test drives of a Model S three times in the past, including a P90 ludicrous, but a Model X should be a little different. I'll be picking it up Thursday after work, and returning it Friday evening.

Overnight test drives can be fun. I did one a couple years ago for a Lincoln MKC. That was a whole holiday weekend. It was fun taking it to family picnics. Many years before that, I did one for a Hummer H2, just to experience it. That was a big monster.

Anyhow, I'll take some pictures and post my impressions. Looking forward to it!

            Initial, Quick Impressions
            • Doesn't "feel" as wide as the S. I know it is, but it doesn't seem like it. I guess it seems more in-proportion given that it's taller.
            • Third-row seats are useless, unless your legs are amputated.
            • The 90D is quick. It doesn't make you feel sick in the stomach like a Ludicrous car, but it's still very quick.
            • It doesn't like the trickle-charger that came with my Leaf. :(
            • Summon didn't work well for me. Kept stopping before I wanted it to. Except the one time, it went too far. :fearscream:
            • Autopilot works decently, but needs a lot more work done.
            • Love the windshield
            • Falcon wing doors are cool, but ultimately kind of gimmicky.
            • The keyfob was actually kind of hard to use.

What's needed to get a 24hr test drive vs. a regular test drive.

It sounds like they're willing to give 24hr test drives to anybody with a Model 3 reservation.
I just stopped by and asked about it. :)
