Apologies for the site issues and sporadic downtime.

Our growth outpaced our server's abilities so we upgraded our plan and did some upgrades to the back end. This was unplanned so we had some issues to plow through. Over the last few days we made some great progress in the speed department, search and caching.
We're still tweaking settings as we fine tune the site so hopefully we'll be set for a while ;)

Thanks for your continued support and contributions, hosting a site of this size comes with significant financial costs.

If you enjoy our site and would to contribute to keep it going you can donate here:

    Cheers

Much appreciate sir, thank you for all you've done and do!

Next time, ask me if it's ok first though, these last two work days without my little break away to read/post here have been BRUTAL!

    I'm kidding of course.

    No, I'm serious. ;)

I miss the arrows to scroll back to the top.

wait! there was an arrow to go back to the top?! how had I missed that? I always have just manually scrolled.
But any changes like that likely will be back soon - just removed temporarily while the site get's squared away on the performance issues we've seen lately.

(and wished the 'forums' menu had the down arrow to go to the "New Posts & Threads" when already in the forum section like you can from the mobile app - but that's a topic for another day) Screen Shot 2018-09-06 at 7.27.51 AM.png

I disabled it for now, Jquery has been acting funny and they were jumping around driving me nuts. They may return after we get stability sorted out. One thing at a time ;)

That's not possible without extra coding since you're looking at the sticky menu which only retains the main "tabs"

Try the "Home" key on your keyboard.
On a Chromebook, CTRL-ALT-UPARROW does the same thing.

EDIT - it sounds like COMMAND-UPARROW will do the same thing on a Mac.

Poking around I found a few hidden settings. I can either have the submenus follow the sticky header (which I've enabled for now) or I can disable the sub menu and just have them in the drop down on the forum menu (like Media, members etc)

I think the former is better for now since people are used to the function, we just have it follow as you go.

    Let me know

I think i knew that, but don't ever use it. a flick up on the touchpad returns to the top of the page instantly (but still after 2 years look up at the menu expecting to refresh to the new posts from the forums menu, apparently not a quick learner, or really stubborn)

I couldn't reach the site at all earlier this morning, but now it's snappy as heck! Good work, @TrevP!

It's snappy when it's not hanging.
Hopefully Trev can find and fix this last remaining issue.

You don’t have the three bars at the top that opens the side bar menu?

We're still trying various settings and variables to help with stability. The hosting company did some changes without asking and it's led to all sorts of rat holes. I've now set the config back to what it was like before all this began. Now that we have more memory maybe it will be stable again. It's been a very frustrating experience.

Speed is certainly appreciated and that's a change I did to the caching mechanism which we couldn't employ before due to memory constraints.
