Can anyone tell me whether T≡SLA has continued to send the nice thank you 'letter' to all Model ≡ reservation holders who got on board recently. If yes, how long does it typically take to receive it relatively to the date of reservation? I am asking because I do find it a truly nice attention and since it will have been two weeks tomorrow since I did. Okay, Belgium is not necessarily around the corner from Palo Alto, Ca!!
:)

I'm not sure about more recent orders but it seems that everyone that has ordered got one. I'm one of the lucky ones that got in before the event ran in March but my letter only came a month or so ago.

Wow, Brian, so you're saying it took them 6 months to send it to Ontario? Anybody else?

I got my thank you letter mid August 2016. I ordered 2016-04-04. When you get the letter doesn't seem to have much to do with when you ordered or where you live.

Ok, thanks, then it looks as if it might be more of an Easter egg than a Christmas present for me :) :)

I was in line at the Santa Monica, CA store. I put my deposit down at 5p PST...before the reveal. I have not yet received my letter. (If one is in fact due.) My friend was able to get his deposit in at 10 in Burbank. He received his letter months ago. Hmmm...

Also, Elon posted on Twitter that "gifts" would be sent to the pre-reveal depositers. Is the letter the "gift?" Hmmmm...

I found find it disappointing if this letter (or 'gift'?) would be reserved to those who reserved before or at the reveal... Anybody who is prepared to put €1,000 down for over two years - albeit it to get in line for a revolutionary & exciting set of wheels for a decade (yeah, it will be my retirement car...:)) - should be able entitled to a bit of glossy paper and a couple of pics with Elon's scribble as a keepsake, no? :)

I think you need to look at it in context. There has was speculation that the "gift" in question was going to be something of greater value than the art print. Elon Musk is quoted talking about how surprised they were by that initial, pre-reveal total. I think it was initially supposed to be something else when they predicted only, let's say, 10,000 people would line up. My two cents, they pivoted to that and that's the end of otherwise they'd need to print 400k. Not a great use of money right now when they're trying to down sell the model 3 till production ramps up. They have enough order to stay busy till almost 2019.

I see. Of course you've got a point... With 400k reservation, assuming this costs, let's say $5, maybe $10 a pop, we're looking at 2-4 million bucks... On the other hand, we collectively paid 400 million... :) Oh well... thanks! I'll just wait for the car... And look at myself in the mirror with the new supercool M3OC T-shirt !! :p

I doubt the bulk printing and mailing would have have been that high per unit but the point is the same. I've had to price bulk printing for 100-1000 prints I doubt it was that bad. If you don't use the pre-reveal reservation pool as your dividing line, total number of people quadruples. Then how do you pick a point to cut it off? At that point with reservation holder will be potentially piling up for MONTHS to come. I'm sure things have slowed to a trickle but I expect a burst early next year when they do the final reveal with all the currently secret bells and whistles. They better break out the free swag because people are going to be sitting on reservations for a long time if they reserve then or after that.

Like I said, @WaitingForTesla, I'll live with it... I did not reserve this wonderful car to get a gift. Having said that, I believe that, for most reservationists, it will have been the oddest and patience straining car purchase ever... :) I totally feel like this makes sense for me (and for most - trust the number of cancellations will be a fraction of the total...). A small thank you from Elon would go a long way... Heck, even a small mention by him to this end on our MyTesla page (which would cost nothing) would be a cute idea... no?
Have a great day!

Hey,I made my deposit on 12/26 and haven't received anything but a confirmation e-mail. I'll give it 2 more days and I'm on the phone to Customer Service......! C'mon-12 full days and NOTHING!
Maybe they will fill my tires with nitrogen to appease me.

I had to wait 4 months for mine and I reserved during reveal presentation. These things take time.
