Only three years ago in 2013, Tesla Model S’ first full year of production, the automaker built just over 20,000 vehicles or around 400 per week. Now we learn that Tesla recently achieved for the first time a production rate of 2,000 vehicles per week for an annualized rate of 104,000 cars.

In its last shareholders letter, the company announced that it aimed to exit the second quarter with a production rate of 2,000 vehicles per week – meaning that the company achieved its goal two weeks ahead of schedule. To me, just another example of how Tesla wants to over perform stated goals and that they are really farther along in the process than they originally let on with respect to production and development...especially with regard to the Model 3.

Tesla is growing up very quickly when it comes to producing cars. It's taken them some time to get up to these numbers and they're suffered some credibility problems with the Model X but they've learned a lot in the last 4 years. It think it will really show next year once production starts on Model 3 that the ramp should be way faster and smoother because Model 3 was designed to be much easier to make than the previous 2 cars.

      They understand this fully now.
