A few weeks ago, we reported on a Tesla Model X owner being quoted $2,290 before tax by his local Tesla service center for the replacement of his panoramic windshield after it was damaged by a rock. We noted that the price was much higher than the average for an SUV, which could be explained by the enormous size of the glass.

But as it turns out, the Model X’s windshield is not nearly as expensive as we thought… more…

Hello. In Florida there is no deductible to replace a damaged windshield as long as you have your car insured properly. Does your state have a different law ?

hi Trev. Sorry, I didn't realize it was your post. I guess Canada views the replacement differently than in the US. Beautiful Country, as many of my relatives live in St. Catherines, Ontario. Thanks for all of your efforts and videos. I appreciate them all !

No offence. I don't think there's a deductible here either but I can't remember. Haven't had a windshield replaced in so long...

@RICK M washington state's insurance is similar (at least me policy)... rock chips are repaired if outside of the wiper sweep, and chips within the sweep or any crack replaces the glass if you have comp coverage (no deductible).

Is there a deductible in Ontario? I was told yes. Chip repairs would be totally covered but cracks would incur a deductible ( with my insurance company, anyway).

As it turned out my deductible was $500. The replacement was about $530. It wasn’t worth the $30 to go through insurance.
