At the reveal the red car has it's wheels chocked so perhaps it wasn't a running prototype. The only 2 drivable ones we've seen are the charcoal and silver ones. The silver one has been used for media photography (Motor Trend) and Tesla video shoots.

Beyond curious why we haven't seen the red Model 3 on the roads or being used to give rides after the reveal... Thoughts?
I'm wanting to see that red Model 3 in the Wild as well. The red is growing on me. Originally a Silver adopter. My wife is literally swooning over the red. So my concern is I've been looking at S's and X's paint and I LOVE the red.....especially in the sun, has a candy/metallic look, more deep burgundy in the shade. I may be mistaken, owners correct me if I'm wrong, but unfortunately it appears that 'Signature Red' they call it is 'only' available on the Limited Edition Signature models.
So I hope we don't have to drop the high end $$$$ on a loaded Sig M3 "just to get that red paint"!!!
Say it isn't so Elon!

my understanding is "signature" will not be an option for the Model 3... but who knows.
If the red shown on the stage is as orange as it looks in some of the photos, I may opt for it.

otherwise none of the typical Model S/X colors are that exciting. I'm hoping those paint samples (that have had pix floating around since well before the Model X went into production) make some appearances with the Model 3.

Tesla has confirmed there will not be a "Signature" series Model 3. To me it also signifies that the "Signature red" won't be available either. You can count on some form of multi-coat red however amongst the usual colours currently available with Model S and X.

I suspect we'll see new colours next year for the S and X and could very well be the same on the 3 given Tesla has a penchant for making their cars feel "familial",

Elon promised "something special" for those that waited in line. I've proposed that it would be a "special" color, a la Signature Green (Roadster) or Red (S and X) (probably at an extra cost).

@MelindaV I don't think that Tesla will launch with as wide a palette as they had for the Roadsters, however. Try to check out pictures of a Roadster Skittles Run to see what dynamic color choices were available in the past.

So this all begs the question.....will we be able to see these colors on Model 3's on display in showrooms BEFORE we hit the Design Studios and option out our builds with colors and options? Or will we be buying 'in the blind' so to speak going just on CAD photos online?

Yes. Indubitably. However, those that live in markets that don't have a store will have to make do with online pictures.

As long as there is a black color I'm good... To be honest it's the only color that I can tolerate the new front facia... Was really hoping they'd go with the model X look and made it their own like all BMW and Mercedes has a brand look in the front... But unfortunately they didn't... I hope Saleem come up with some mod for it similar to what they did for the model S...

I completely disagree with you. They have come up with a common theme across the three vehicles. The last thing I want is for them to look completely identical.

I'm sure somebody will come out with a vinyl kit that you can slap onto the front of your Model 3 to make it look like a Model S.

@Blackout , I think the front shown at the reveal will be updated prior to the final reveal and will match the X and new S front. The shape is there, just not the embedded emblem. The shown vehicles also didn't have any rear emblems either if I remember correctly. Just the one on the front fenders.

Yah I hope they do change it like the model X. I think the model S face lift is a good indication that things are going that way...but we'll see...
I wonder what would the result of a survey be like between people choosing the current look of the M3 VS changing it to look like current MS or MX...

it's funny how much people have changed their opinion on the front over the last few weeks too. It seemed the first weekend all anyone was talking about was photoshopped alternates to the front. Now I am seeing comments saying Tesla should keep the proto's front and not give it the X and redesigned S front.

When the model S and model X came out the complaints about the front was rare...but for the model 3 it's almost 50-50 i'm not sure which side holds the majority, like you said it changes everyday...
If you compare that to the reaction people had from the Model S facelift it's no were comparable, that's how I determined that it has a poor reaction to the public design, because it has some what a high number of people not feeling it...But from an design point of view, I can see why they went that way.
Although the car is 20% smaller than the model S, it will most likely use steel for the chassis and for cost reduction and it might end up being about 400lbs-700lbs less than the weight of the model S. It would be an heavy car when compared to others in the same class... So they'll need to improve maximum range as much as they can and having a front like that to me looks likes it's more efficient than the traditional round front...The current shape look like a small blade and it would help cut through the air better and improve drag as it accelerate...and that's what worries me because I can see a reason why keeping it as is...so it might end up being like that...but hey it's too early to press the panic button they might change it...

beside there are other companies like Saleen which can do some mod and improve it, I would rather loose up to 20 miles of range but have a similar design or close to it, check this out:

I would like to see the Model 3 with the same front emblem (between the headlights) as the Model S. Kind of like my other car with no front grill.

I posted this picture in another thread about the grille.

I have a feeling they might tweak the front end very slightly to give us this. It's not much but it fits the theme.

I like it already... But I hanks for sharing...

Hwy I noticed elon tweeted that he wanted that link? Any idea why?
And according to you he officially said they'll work on it?

When I'm driving the car, I can't see the front end. Why would I care what other people see? There are a thousand things more important than the shape of the front end.

That is your opinion not necessarily how others see it...
I can speak for myself and as for me that's the first thing I see before I even get in it so I like it to be good looking so I would want to get in... If you know what I mean lol...

But yah you also want others to acknowledge that it is a good looking car, and considering there are a lot of mind that still stuck on petrol you don't wanna give them an excuse to diss the car, and to judge it simply on its cover...

You are right there are more important things, but the look is important too...

That is why I said "I" and not "us".
