I am suspect the wheel that we saw on the tester model 3 is the wheel what underneath the Aero wheel cover.

Look at the wheel's valve stem location between two spoke on the red model 3. The valve stem location is offset to the side of the spoke to accommodate the Aero cover design. I had never seen any wheel (OEM or aftermarket) that with an offset valve stem between two spokes. So it is designed to go underneath the Aero cover.

Also look at the wheel's center hub, there are threads which are for the Aero cover center bolt to attach on to the wheel.

    What do you guys think?

I think they are the same wheel.

For some reason, the Aero wheel looked super horrible at first. Looks like they made some design tweaks and made the cover openings a little bigger, and now, it's looking not bad.

I'd like to see Tesla (or an aftermarket supplier) make a round cap that would cover the central wheel lug bolt area. It could be held on by the same center screw-on device that holds the existing aero full wheel cover.

Unfortunately, the wheel looks like plain steel--not chromed--ugly.

I think the general consensus on this forum is that you are correct - the UWCs (Ugly/Unique Wheel Covers) cover the 18" wheels shown. However, to me these look like alloy wheels, not steel. And yes, somebody needs to come out with a hubcap - quick!

Hopefully one of the new employee-owners with 18" wheels will take pity on us and take some pics of their wheels with the covers on and off...

I think you meant Aluminum (not polished) but you are forgiven.

The wheel under the cover looks very different than the uncovered wheel pictured.

Different color and shape seen in the opening of the hubcap....than the photo of the uncovered wheel photo.

I am very confused, is the 18" standard wheel a wheel cover. Only the cheapest cars ($12k-15k) in the market today have wheel covers for lowest model. A base Honda accord LX brings standard wheels and not wheel covers. That would be really disappointing. I prefer and 18" wheel which is the standard, they are cheaper to replace.

Not sure if this has "Broke out" on the forums but there is finally a pic of the production car without the aero caps! With what looks like a finished center cover.

It's a quite nice looking alloy wheel, which comes with a removable aerodynamic wheel cover for increased range.
I'm quite liking the gunmetal grey look of this latest sighting of the wheel.
    :)
