I'm sure many around this forum would have focused on the announcement during last week's annual meeting about the cost of supercharging being an incremental cost to the purchase of a Model 3 vs being included with the base $35,000 vehicle and many have discussed these things since last week.

The purpose of this post and the linked blog is to discuss several other theories that I have based on why Elon and JB decided to have that history lesson when they did.

An important announcement was placed earlier in May regarding the acceleration of the production of Tesla's factories to 500,000 vehicles per annum from 2020 to 2018. This is an acceleration that many have doubted and I believe Elon and JB have successfully convinced me that they are focused on getting this "self-inflicted" acceleration of production resolved. It was very interesting to see Elon's mind at work in this very casual and well flowing conversation that he had with JB and the share-holding public.

The "history lesson" they gave was indeed on purpose. To put Tesla into the right context and to demonstrate that have have learned a lot about production and learned from past mistakes in order to get Model 3 production happening on time and not judge them based on Model X delays.
