    Howdy folks,

The Model 3 order I simulated prior to unveil based on model S options came in a little under what it actually will be, to the tune of $3k. The price of FSD.

I think I'll have a few extra months of saving to help things out, but I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what happens if we don't order FSD prior to receiving the car. Any ideas on if FSD would be $3k AFTER the purchase as well as before?

I believe that Model S and X apply a premium to software unlocks taken after delivery. While I hope that the Model 3 situation is different, I'm not holding my breath till I see otherwise.

It will very likely be the same as on the S/X - and think there it is a $1000 premium to activate it after the fact.
Also, welcome and make sure to check out the new Oregon EV info in the Regional/NW section :)

I would say Melinda's answer is the best to go off of.

In the event it doesn't sell well though, who knows, we could see it discounted later. Like what they did with battery unlock upgrades after they didn't sell well.

Yeah the cost would be more after the fact. I would expect them to discount it at some point though as they want as close to a 100% conversion rate to AP and FSD as possible. It'd be awhile I'm sure though before they start discounting it.

Yes! at a budget of $xxxK, this is great news -- I can get the premium features and color first, then save up again and award myself some AP in the future. YES!
