Not sure how many Model3OwnersClub members are based in Australia, much less Western Australia.

But I'll be visiting Perth next week and have set up a lunch with TMC member MDK (who took his Model S from Perth to Brisbane and back earlier in the year) and wanted to have an open invite to any of those interested in EVs, Teslas, and the like to have lunch and discuss things next Thursday, 20-October-2016.

So, any Model3OwnersClub members in Perth or its environs either as a resident or passing through?

EVeryone who wants to talk EVs welcome.

Most of the folks I met at lunch had a reservation for the Model 3... Not sure how many of them read this forum, and It was great to spend time with fellow EV folks in Western Australia... The Australian EV Association's Western Australia branch came out to talk EVs.

Lunch on Thursday:

I decided to write a more formal trip report of our visit to Perth in an article on my blog.

One thing that is impressive is how compliant the public was at leaving the sole EV charging station available for an EV to use. It was even more impressive to see so many dual use spots with the ability to provide an EV with a charge, should the non-dedicated stall be available for use.

These guys might be on to something... Then again it helps that they're at 230V power as standard.

Very interesting @AEDennis , thank you! It'll probably be a while before I can fly Down Under myself... so great to read about your nice trip!!! Talking about an ICE 'squatting' on a spot it should NOT occupy, check out this one by a Houston downtown hotel, caught on iPhone as I went on my mission to spice up the Teslarati app map! :) obviously this Merc got confused as to what it needed for a boost! :p

Was there a sign to limit the spot to charging only?

Some locations don't put a sign.

Dennis, good question, I guess I did not see anything... unless there was a marking on the ground, under the car... Probably not...

As I trust you know, I am still quite new at this, and maybe still naive in thinking drivers of an ICE vehicle would automatically NOT park their car in front of a T≡SLA charger... I know I would not!!

Take care... Time for a Houston night... recharging my batteries! :p

Yup. Before we demonize others parked in an EV charging spot, in some jurisdictions and some hosts don't mind ICE parking at charging location. It is not ideal and I don't agree with the practice, but first rule is a sign from the host restricting general parking.

If you look at some of the Supercharging locations around the world, some actually ALLOW up to 30 minute parking in some charging spots.

Positive and respectful. I like that!
That's the spirit we should all have. Thanks!

Hello all Perth EV enthusiasts, I'm actually in Perth for this weekends Comic Con and if there are any Model 3 Owners Club show fans that want to say hi, let me know. Come on down to the Con and say hi if you see me around!

A Perth ComcCon? I wonder if it's anything like the San Diego ComicCon, back in the day...

I've always told folks that Perth reminded me of San Diego from a few decades ago.
