In a development regarding the fatal accident in Florida where a Tesla Model S on Autopilot crashed into the trailer of a truck last month, the truck driver in question, Frank Baressi, now claims that the Tesla driver was watching a movie while traveling on the highway using the Autopilot.

The accident happened last month in Florida, but it came to light only yesterday when it was announced that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched a preliminary evaluation into Tesla to make sure the Autopilot worked according to expectations. more…

how exactly would you know an oncoming driver was watching a movie? let alone naming the specific movie while also saying "he went thru my trailer so fast, I didn't see him"?
I would suspect the tesla driver may have been speeding, but otherwise the truck driver's statement seems to be what he thinks would make for a rational explanation of why a driver would not see a truck crossing in front of them. That Harry Potter will get you in trouble....

Regardless of what the Tesla driver was doing, the Tesla driver had the right of way and the truck driver failed to yield the right of way. Period.:mad:

Question is, which side of the truck was the Tesla driver on? If he's on the right hand side there's very little chance the truck driver could actually see inside a car that low from his side.
