I'm thinking $70K is the max i'd pay for a Model ☰, but interested in hearing what other people think their limit would be an why.

I've no interest in Ludicrous mode, but i'd like a car thats faster than my current Model S (5.4s 0-60). So if that means I need performance so be it.

Other things I want (basically I want a Model ☰ equivalent of my S (or better!))
    1) Panoramic roof
    2) Tan leather (or synthetic if they have it, just not the white)
    3) Alcantara if offered
    4) Supercharging
    5) Autopilot
    6) Dual/larger chargers
    7) Subzero package

No premium sound, no air suspension (unless bundled).

Guessing on the prices and what they may include.

I'm solidly in Elon's median $42,000 range. maybe $45k if I get carried away :)

My (at least for today) order of priorities:
    1.) Dual motor
    2.) Cow Leather
    3.) Autopilot
    4.) Supercharging
5.) Paint other than black or white
6.) Increased battery, but don't need largest (price dependent - I'm sure I'm up to $42k before this unless Tesla makes us really good deals)

things I would like to have but am sure already past my budget
    a.) Air suspension
    b.) Cold weather package
c.) Pano roof, or solid glass roof
    d.) Wheels larger than 18"
    e.) Premium sound
f.) Directional headlights (or was that assumed to be standard?)
g.) tech/premium extras (interior accent lights, door lights, etc)

I'm looking for affordable car to buy electric and great if is Tesla
In two years time for 35-40k we can have bigger competition (Mercedes, VW, maybe someone else) if I need to pay 70-80k that will be Model S no Model 3
    My max for Model 3 = 40k

I think choices above are not indicative of total price we will pay after taxes, delivery and such. If we take 10% on top of purchase price to go towards various fees, base model is closer to 39k out the door, which is more realistic price. Since I am going to finance, my budget is set for 40k, so base model it is.

The fully loaded option for the model 3 will probably come out to a base price of an awd model s and is worth every penny

I am hoping to keep it to <$50k out the door
    I figure Base $35k plus :
    Dual motor $4k
    Black Leather $2k
    RED $1k
    Bigger battery $6k
    Metal roof -$1k
    Accessory Hitch for Bikes +$0.5k
So maybe $48k with Delivery. so $51k with Tax. If I can get some sort of rebate, I can get it under $50k
Hope of course that Trevor is right on the option prices but I am planning for more and hope to be happily suprised

I don't have inside information but I'm fairly confident that options pricing on Model 3 will be much more inline with the vehicle's market segment. Model S is a premium car and Tesla can "get away" with charging more for what seems mundane options. After all, they need the money to help pay for a lot more going on.

Model 3 is going to be several orders of magnitude higher in terms of production scale and cost reductions so options should come in at prices that make more sense. @LUXMAN I think is close but still a bit on the high size, other than the battery upgrade.

Here's an interesting piece of speculation:

      http://seekingalpha.com/article/4023765-tesla-will-model-3-cost

This tends to confirm my suspicion. Yes, the vehicle is being billed as a 35k mass market entry. But that (USD) price can grow significantly with just a few Tesla "must have" options. A fully loaded Model 3 may in fact be more than twice that price.

Interesting case for 3 holders to seriously consider becoming Model S/X buyers instead.

Hi, @Derek Tweedy , yeah, I saw this too & apart from the fact I was advised earlier by some of of our M3OC friends to be treating this site with caution as it is mostly filled with very negative articles on T≡SLA, let me offer you my thoughts for consideration:
      - even the base Model ≡ at 35k is going to be special, fun to drive & technological advanced
      - sure there will be many ways to spice it up thereby making it more expensive - I am skeptical that must-have's (which of course is a personal thing to determine) would necessarily double its base price... after all, the ability to go ludicrous or to have the car fully drive itself, just to name a couple of examples, while cool options, will definitely not be sought by all... plus some of these (those software related) can be added at a later stage... when we've saved a little extra money... :)
      - the comparison to the Model S is a tough one... basically these will be two different cars, targeting mostly different segments of the market; sure a fully loaded Model ≡ may cost
as much as an entry level MS, yet you can also make the latter quite a bit dearer with the same options you'd have picked on the firmly...
      - as I said before, if you can afford an MS today and are not bothered by the extra size, go for it!! It is also a super car (love it yet can't afford what it would cost me...), you have it sooner and you'll have a swell time with it... And one of us Model ≡ reservation holders will thank you for it, as his/her positon on the line will move up one notch! :)
Finally, again since this is Seeking Alpha, I don't think it is as much written for the reader to consider the MS as much as the Bolt... divisive marketing??

      Have a nice day!
      Mike

Agreed Mike. I'm weary regarding this site as well . I think as the weeks and months unfold, the competition will be pulling out all the tricks to try and deflate the Tesla momentum.

That said, the more they try, the greater the opportunity for Mr. Musk to reel them in and shock the industry yet again .

The final reveal should be spectacular.

Right, and tell me again who ever had almost 400k reservations on a car within two months of a first reveal... I don't think all the naysayers will have their way!!

I'm with Mr. North and Trev. I would to get all that for < $60k USD! Lop off $7500 for U.S. Federal + $5k state and we'd have a whopper of a car for a cheeseburger price!

And I'm lighting a big white candle so that the $/€ exchange rate remains favorable to us European (at least 1.1-1.15...) so that I can get something around Trev's 'Better' config for ~€45k... :)

Precisely! With our government shaving 14k~ off the cost it just makes sense to get some solid options. Hopefully make me happy with the car for years as there'd be big savings in driving a Model3 for many years.

I think we're all on edge with exchange rate. It's close to 33% now from CAD to USD. I probably need to start saving again as 35kCAD I've got aside probably won't be enough. Maybe I'll go for Elon's 42 number.

So many things can change before I place my order... so I'll remain optimistic... as the survey first option states, even if I have to sacrifice neat options to stick within my budget, I'll still get an awesome car!! :):):)

Totally agree. I'd even be willing to finance some of it if needed. It'd break my soul to do it but owning a Tesla has long been a dream. Fell in love the first time I saw the S. Used to live near a guy that had one and I'd go out of my way just to walk by it. I never imagined 2 years ago that I'd even be able to get a car and now I'm in a place to get a 3. Life is pretty amazing at times.
